What does Thanksgiving mean to you?
Thanksgiving is an opportunity to stop and thank God for all we have and those we love. I'd appreciate hearing from each of you. What did Thanksgiving mean to you? How did you celebrate this Thanksgiving? Did you have any wish or hope or blessing for each other this Thanksgiving? Was prayer said around your table?
Is there a person who led the prayer?
The Native American prayer, below, was used at the St. Joseph High School prayer service may be a prayer to share around your thanksgiving table.
We return thanks to our mother, the earth,
which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams,
which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs,
which furnish medicine for our diseases.
We return thanks to the corn, and to her sisters,
the beans and squashes,
which give us life.
We return thanks to the wind,
which, moving the air,
has banished diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and the stars,
which has given us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to the sun,
which has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit,
in whom is embodied all goodness,
and who directs all things for the good of his people.

Thanksgiving for me, has become rather repetitive over the years making it somewhat tiresome. It’s thought to be a joyous event when relatives gather but, my family is a testament that this in always the case. Still at the end of the day, I consumed delicious food and got time off of school so, this holiday wasn’t completely pointless.

My Thanksgiving was wonderful because my extended family was there. There was plenty of food, I felt blessed that many people don't have food for their families or themselves. It was just wonderful.
My Thanksgivings break was actually rather bountiful. My mother prepared quite the appetizing glazed ham. There was stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and pasta. As appreciative as we were to have food on our plates, we were also thankful to have each other in the midst of these hard times.

Thanksgiving isn't really greatly celebrated in my family because it is an American tradition, but over the years my mother has tried to make it as good as possible, not only for me but for the rest of my family as well. This year Thanksgiving was a little different since it was celebrated at my house but in the end it was a marvelous occasion. I got to spend the day with my cousin watching movies and also the Jets game. In the end it was a good day except for the fact my mom wouldn't let me use the kitchen for breakfast that morning.
My Thanksgiving Break:)
My Thanksgiving break was appetizing. It was appetizing because of all the food I got to eat, which I do not eat on a regular basis. My grandma cooked Macaroni, Candyams, Collard greens, stuffing, just thinking about the food has me salivating at the mouth. I ended it off with a big piece of sweet potato pie and a glass of eggnog. I got to spend time with my grandma who i don't see as much and enjoy her love and company. My Thanksgiving was enjoyable.

Even tough this year my family and I didn't have thanksgiving together, I'm still thankful that God kept all of my family safe from hurricane Sandy, and from so much more.
