Thanksgiving 2012 revisited!

Nov. 2012

What does Thanksgiving mean to you?
Thanksgiving is an opportunity to stop and thank God for all we have and those we love. I'd appreciate hearing from each of you. What did Thanksgiving mean to you? How did you celebrate this Thanksgiving? Did you have any wish or hope or blessing for each other this Thanksgiving? Was prayer said around your table?
Is there a person who led the prayer?
The Native American prayer, below, was used at the St. Joseph High School prayer service may be a prayer to share around your thanksgiving table.

We return thanks to our mother, the earth,
which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams,
which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs,
which furnish medicine for our diseases.
We return thanks to the corn, and to her sisters,
the beans and squashes,
which give us life.
We return thanks to the wind,
which, moving the air,
has banished diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and the stars,
which has given us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to the sun,
which has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit,
in whom is embodied all goodness,
and who directs all things for the good of his people.
Iroquois Prayer (adapted)

A Woman You Admire!

This is a Wiki/Blog on women we admire.

Change... post all of the items below on a different blog page because I'm still too new with this site and I don't want to delete any more student work by error. The site is www.socialstudies.blogspot.com. This site is also listed on the www.nylearns.org/sashe site. Thanks for your patience and good work. SN

1. Post your name.

Post a picture of a woman you admire. Give the source under the photo. (Mine did not show??)

2. Some Bio and also give source of this information.

3. Five Sentences on why you admire her. This is your own opinion. Please be as detailed as possible.

4. Name three questions you would ask her if your could. Please make the questions real and honest?

Should we email her and ask her those questions?

Complete by Friday February 11, 2011 at 9pm.

I'm very interested in your answers because for the month of March the women you pick will be featured in and around St. Joseph High School.

Spell check? May not work, can anyone find it?
