What does Thanksgiving mean to you?
Thanksgiving is an opportunity to stop and thank God for all we have and those we love. I'd appreciate hearing from each of you. What does Thanksgiving mean to you? How do you plan to celebrate this Thanksgiving? Do you have any wish or hope or blessing for each other this Thanksgiving? Is prayer said around the table?

Thanksgiving means a lot to me. It is one of my favorite holidays of all year. Thanksgiving to me means being with my family and giving thanks for everything we have especially each other. It also means a lot of food and extra pounds. Besides giving thanks for our food and family it is also necessary to give thanks to God because without him nothing would be possible or present.

Thanksgving is a time when my whole family gathers around. We share and give thanks to all the good things we have in life. On Thanksgiving Day my mother prepares a big meal,the whoel family comes to my house and eat. But before we eat each have a option of adding our own little prayer of what we are thankful for.

This Thanksgiving my family and I are going to Pennslyvania on Wesndesday November 25 to my grandparent's house. We celbrate Thanksgiving there every year. We eat early with the traditional Thanksgiving foods, and the delicious Thanksgiving desserts, and eventually fall asleep. At around 1am, me my sister, and my mother go to the outlets and do the Black Friday shopping! I can't wait. I pray for my junior class and all of my teachers that have they all have a fun and safe Thanksgiving vacation.

to me thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends and also celebrate everyones success and happiness. this thanksgiving i am going to spend it with my family and after we pray and bless our food we give thanks to god and we will eat until we cant eat nomore.
Thanksgiving is a day, in which I am able to reflect on the things that I am thankful for. It is a time where I can think of all that God has blessed me with throughout the year, and in return give Him the utmost thanks and praise. It is also a time where I am able to fellowship with both my church family and my entire family, which doesnt happen throughout the year.
This Thanksgiving, I plan to celebrate some of my day at church. Usually we play games, eat delicious meals, and share the things we are thankful for. After, I plan on returning home to spend the rest of the night with my family. There, we eat, reconnect with family members,and again share the things we are thankful for. On Thanksgiving, my family and I do pray. At church, my pastor is the person that leads the prayer. However, at home, each person has an opportunity to pray and give thanks to God. My blessing for the entire St. Joseph staff and student body is that every one will have a safe, happy, enjoyable, and reflective Thanksgiving. I hope and pray that everyone will be able to spend their Thanksgiving with at least one other person, and be able to enjoy a great meal and thank God for all that He has done. I love you all and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is an essential holiday to me. It's a time where we dedicate that day in particular to sincerely give God thanks for the things He has done in our lives. Although thanksgiving should be a daily act in the lives of a Christian, people all around the world, black or white, Christian or Athiest, recognize this day as one to be thankful. This year, I plan to have a hectic yet exciting Thanksgiving. It's my first year preparing at least one item on our menu by myself. I have to make homemade apple pie and cranberry sauce. I look forward to it. Also, I will be spending Thanksgiving with my church family and my genetic family. The first part of that day, my Church is hosting an early dinner and celebration while later on in the evening,I will be home with my family. Twice the food! To everyone, I hope that you take at least a moment on that day to thank God for something, anything that deserves thanks. Whether for family or life or something personal, just thank Him for it because he blessed you with it. Thanksgiving means a lot to me. Thanksgiving means that a family comes together as one and spends time with one another. Thanksgiving is a time of prayer, hope, togetherness and thankfulness of all the blessings in one’s life. This thanksgiving I plan to spend time with my friends and family. I hope that everyone in the world will have a loving Thanksgiving. I pray that God may bless and protect the people that do not have food this year for Thanksgiving and may He feed them His love and strength. At Thanksgiving, there is a prayer said around the table in my family. I usually love to lead the prayer. I pray for the homeless and the poor that do not have food, for our troops at war and saying thanks to God for all He has given me.
Thanksgiving is a time to put all drama aside and being able to come together as a family and celebrate being thankful for many things including life and love. During the time of thanksgiving i give thanks to god for standing by myself no matter what and also for allowing me to have a wonderful family. Eventhough my grandmother passed away last month and isnt with me for another thanksgiving, i give thanks for allowing me to have shared past thankgivings with her and i will always know she is looking down on me with a smile. Well, for me, thanksgiving mean having your whole family over for dinner. Its a time when family share good moments with each other and tell jokes etc and give thanks to what we have. Its a time when we see our extended family like our cousins, aunts, uncles etc.On thanksgiving day, we recognize the things we have that we take advantage of. However, we should try to give thanks everyday, not only on thanksgiving.Last but not least, the best part about thanksgiving is having a variety of food to eat!
Oops i forgot to answer the questions. I don't know how i am celebrating this thanksgiving, but my older brother coming to visit and my uncle. Those are our only two guests, oh and my brother friend. So its three actually. So it would be me, my brother, my other brother, my mom, my dad, my uncle, and one of my brother friend. I hope everybody have a good thanksgiving and give thanks to what they have and think of me (just kidding). Well buh-bye!
Okay, i know what you guys are thinking how many times is sherley going to post another comment?!, well i am sorry but i missed out two questions. But, I'm going to keep my responses short. The hope i have for my family this thanksgiving, is to try to communicate more and forgive one another no matter how hard the situation can be. Yes prayer is said around the table, usually my mother starts the prayer and i go after her....but only if I'm not feeling shy. [Now i am done!]
To me thanksgiving means a day to give thanks and spend with your family.I feel its a day to relax and be grateful for what I have.This Thanksgiving I plan to spend it the same way i do every year we have a big dinner in my Grandparents house with my family.This Thanksgiving i hope that everyone is grateful for their family because theirs some people who don't have any. What Thaksgiving means to me is my famliy coming together and celebrating each other's company. We enjoy each others laughter and that makes me happy knowing that my family is happy. When we say our prayers, we pray about what we are thankful for.
Thanksgiving to me, means a day where you thank God for everything he has given us. Its a day where me and my family get together in eachothers houses and eat a whole lot. Before we eat we pray. Usually we go around the table and let everyone say something they are thankful for. Its a pretty good experience especially.

Thanksgiving means spending time with family and being grateful for everything you have. This Thanksgivivng is going to be an ackward but fun Thanksgiving that I get to share with my moother, grandmother, aunt and cousins. I hope that this Thanksgiving goes smoothly and drama free. Usually at the family table there isn't a prayer said out loud but I always say a thank you prayer to God in my mind.
I agree with China. My aunt passed away in February and I know that it's going to be very difficult for my family to sit down and eat without her. Even though she was very old and she usually didn't come over to my house for Thanksgiving my mother always brought her a plate of food and we spent time with her. Sometimes it could be hard to be grateful when you lose something that you really love. As China said in her blog, I hope that my family doesn't argue and that all drama can be put aside.

I think thanksgiving is a time when families come together and eat and have a good time and to give thanks to one another for the things we have. I think i am going to invite my whole family over and have a good dinner and good time with everyone and see parts of my family i haven't seen in a while. In my family we say grace sometimes but anyone can lead :)

Thanksgiving to me means family coming together to show love and respect for each other. We celebrate by bringing the whole family together to help cook and clean. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and to enjoy their vacation. My grandmother usually starts with a small prayer, it changes every year.
I agree with martha when she says that Thanksgivin is a time to relax and enjoy yourself. It is also a time to be grateful for what you have.
Thanksgiving is that special time of the year when families come together to enjoy food and each other's company. Thanksgiving helps me realize what family means to me and also demonstrates our love and togetherness as a whole family.I plan on spending my thanksgiving at home with my grandmother's side of the family and from there we will have dinner together as usual. Thankgiving to me means a time of giving thanks to all those who shows you kindness and love and supot in the past years. Basically, people who has helped you in any way or form. thankgiving is a time to pray and thank god for all the good things he has given you and will continue to give you. I plan to celebrate thanksgiing with my family at the dinner table having a wonderful meal and sharing stories and times spent together.I wish to all those who have been there for me and helped me to be shown the love of thanksgiving by god in any shape or form. In my family, prayer is definitly said, not just on thanksgiving but every day or our life, it is good to give thanks to god for all the good he has done for us all. and my family. On thanksgiving, i love leading the prayer becuase in my heart, i want to show my family how much i love them. so i lead the prayer. but usually, we actuallly all say a little thought of thanks.

I agree with what Martha has said in the blog, "This Thanksgiving i hope that everyone is grateful for their family because theirs some people who don't have any." this is something i strongly agree with becuase i am grateful for my family and dont know what i would do without them. And those who are ungrateful never get to see the real meaning of thanksgiving but thats it, thanksgiving is probably the time they might actually realize and become grateful for there family.
i agree with china thanksgiving is when we have to put all the drama to the side and sit down as family and enjoy ourselves even if its just for one day.

I agree with Kris' comment. We should not pray for oursleves and be thankful for all that we have, but we should also be praying for those that are less fortunate. I like how she takes the time out to remember the homeless and hungry, and offer them a word of prayer. It's a great reminder to all of us to lend a word of prayer to those who need it most.

I agree with jasmine because that is that thanksgiving is all about. We celebrate each other company.
What Thanksgiving means to me is a time when you give thanks for everything you have and what god has given us. Its a time to think of others and pray for them as well. On thanksgiving my whole family gets together in someone's house, everyone brings in food that they made and we just all have a good time. Before we start to eat we say a prayer and it can be about anything like what you are thankful for.

Thanksgiving to me is a day where I can spend time with my family and thank god for every thing that I have. Thanksgiving means a special time of year where family and friends can come together and enjoy each other's presence. It is important to me because I can stay home and spend quality time with my mom and eat with her, which is something I don't get to normally do. To me, this is a blessed time of year for people who do not have families and friends to spend Thanksgiving with because they can help others who do not have anything at all and can donate cans of food or help out at a soup kitchen. Everyone can be an essential role model for Thanksgiving because we can either help out the needy or call up a family member that you haven't seen or spoken to in a while and make them feel valued in your home. I completely agree with Schae. Thanksgiving is a time of year where we should reflect on what we are thankful for. In today's society, we are too preoccupied to take three to five minutes to even acknowledge the wonderful things, people, or special events that happen to us. Thanksgiving is a time of year where we need to all sit down and appreciate what and who we have around us because many people do not get to have this kind of true, genuine experience.
Thanksgiving means forgetting about the nonsense the constantly circles your family. Its a time to be thankful for all that you have, especially life and the people who love you. Thanks giving means having a family to unite with and share laughs, love and food. Thanksgiving most importantly means giving thanks to God for all that he has done for you, and your family. It means thanking God that you are alive to see another Thanksgiving because some people aren't. On Thanksgiving I went to my aunts house. Everyone cooked and brought food. We prayed, ate, laughed, danced and it was cool.

I agree with Malesha's comment because some people take family for granted and they don't realize how important it is to even have a family. She said that Thanksgiving is basically a time to realize how much your family means to you which i think is true because some people don't have families to share laughs and food with but some still take advantage when they fight, curse and carry on when all that is unnecessary and they should be lucky that they have a family with someone to lean on, or talk to, or reminisce with. These are the things we need to be thankful for. Some families get out of control, but Thanksgiving isn't the time, the place, or the holiday.
Thanksgiving to me, means that is a day where everybody give thank God for everything that he has given us.In dis day is where I meet with my family and we spend with each other company.I enjoy be with my family and see that everybody is happy with each other in this day.
The meaning of Thanksgiving to me means, a time to give thanks for the blessing god have given us. It is a time to gather up with your family and give thanks. Also what it means to mean is, a reason to have dinner with your whole family, because this is the only time of the year that i meet up with my dad's side of the family. Like every year, i went to my aunts house and had a big dinner with all my dads brothers and sisters (9 in total), my aunts and uncles children (22 in total) and my cousins husband and her sisters in laws with their daughters and husbands (8 in total). First we gave thanks to god for giving my cousin Javier another chance to live and then my grandmother said a prayer. After we all ate a piece of bread that was blessed and after we all had a wonderful dinner. As a family tradition, after everyone ate we danced the night away.
As I was reading the other comments my fellow classmates posted, i found it interesting that the way they celebrate Thanksgiving is similar to the way my family celebrates Thanksgiving. It is nice to see that their families are united. I liked that my fellow classmates think that Thanksgiving is something very significant because that's the same way i feel about it.

Thanksgiving is the special time for everyone to reflect on the things they are thankful for; and like her, I do wish that the SJHS staff would also have a lovely, enjoyable and blessing Thanksgiving. Thanksgivng is also a time for prayer and peace and a time for reconnecting with your church.
I agree with China's comment. Thanksgiving is a time to set differences aside and come together as a family and give thanks. It may be difficult because of certain circumstances but it is necessary to give thanks and appreciation for what we possess especially our health.

Thanksgiving is a very special holiday. It's a day where we spend with our loved ones, which we are thankful for, and eat a lot of different types of food. Thanksgiving means giving thanks to God for everyday that he gives to us, every moment, all the people in our lives and much more. This thanksgiving my family came over to my house from Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Long Island and Queens. We talked a lot, my aunt prayed, we danced, had many laughs, and had a great time as always. I hope that everyone enjoyed their thanksgiving and realized all the things they are greatful for.

Thanksgiving means that i can sit down with all my family from both parents side and eat laugh and reminsce on the past. It's very exciting to see how each thansgiving ends up because it always at my house; This year had a different effect on me because my cousin from georgia and my long lost cousin came and we had a ball. That is twhat thanksgiving meant to me this year a ball of fun and fire.

I think thankshgiving is a chance for evryone to gettoghter and enjoy each others' presence. Most family memebrs who you dont see often during the year come together and have a good time. Thanksgiving to me is way more than food, its a chance for everyone o bond without the stresses of everyday life. This year for thanksgiving i went to my aunts house where all of my cousins and their friends where there as a huge family. We talked, played games and had a great time. A prayer was said at the table. My aunt was the leader because she was the one who cooked all of the food.

To me Thanksgiving is one of the most special holidays. It's the one time of the year where families reunite and spend the day together. Thanksgiving is a day to be grateful for what you have especially the love of your family. Some people don't have families, homes, or even food on this day which makes me even more grateful knowing that I do have that.

Thanksgiving means a time where I can turly acknowledge what I have & appreciate it. Also thanking God is most important on this holiday because I may be busy or forget at times what I have through out the year butI can reflect on this day.

I hope everyone had a safe Thanksgiving and had a good time with their families. Also I hope everyone got to thank God for what they have and to see maybe the dont have what they want , but they have what they need.

Yes. The prayer that is said around the table is usually personal because who ever says it says whats on their mind and thanks God out loud. Also theres a time in the prayer where we take a moment of silence to speak to God.
Is there a person who leads prayer?
The persons who lead in prayer are usually my mother or me. We're the ones who feel more comfortable praying.
I agree with Estefani's comment. Having the oppourtunity to be with your entire family on a holiday makes Thanksgiving even more special. You can really appreciate seeing their faces across from you and next to you at the dinner table & thank God they're still with you. Also it is nice time to reconnect with relate that you haven't seen in a while for personal reasons or no reason. Its a time to set aside differences and truly see that you are God's children and were made to love each other.

To me Thanksgiving is very meaningful. Thanksgiving is a time to connect with your family and relatives and enjoy s big delicious family dinner together and remembering past memories together as well. This year just like every other year, my family and I think of Thanksgiving as a tradition celebrated every year. So my mother as usual cooks a delicious dinner and I of course help her, my brother usually sets the table with my father's help and gets everything ready and finally we all sit down at the family table and eat a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. But of course, before we begin to eat my mother just like every other year begins saying a prayer and when she is done my brother, father and I all state what we are all thankful for after one another. Then we finally begin to enjoy our food and converse with one another. After we were all done eating, we commonly never do this but, for the first time after our Thanksgiving dinner my family and I all went to the movie theater to watch a movie. My Thanksgiving was a great experience to connect with my faimly. Now I can truly say that Thanksgiving Day is always a wonderful time to experinence and gather around all your loved ones.
Thanksgiving to me means gathering with your family to celebrate a huge feast. It's a time for everyone to give thanks for everything in life together. Some families don't sit downand have dinner together every night, but Thanksgiving is the one day you can and you enjoy each others company. Before my grandmother assed away a couple years ago, she would lead us in prayer but now we go around the table every year, someone leads us in prayer.

I agree with China. Thanksgiving is a time when you put all problems aside and get together and be a family. You shouldn't let drama get in the way of having a wonderful and prosperous Thanksgiving. It's sets a bad mood, and also a bad memory.

Thanksgiving is a time for families to come together with one another as a one big family and share past memories with one another. Thanksgiving is also a time to forget past arguements relatives have had with one another and just enjoy the time being spent together and converse about good and happy memories that have occurred in the past. I would also like to say to China to always keep your head up because your right your grandmother is always going to be looking down on you and make sure nothing in this world can harm you. So remember always keep your head up and never look down because she's always going to be there watching over you.

I agree with Martha that thanksgiving is all about being with the people you love. It is true that we must be grateful for everything we have because many people do not even have a hot plate of food for thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving means so much to me. Its one of the only days where my entire family gets together and just have fun. Every year, a week before Thanksgiving, some of my family gets together and make our family dishes called "pasteles" and "alcapurrias". We eat the alcapurrias right away and then freeze the pasteles until the day of Thanksgiving. The recipes have been passed down from generation to generation and its something our family is pretty known for. The day of thanksgiving, everyone comes to my aunts house, dressed up with empty stomachs, to eat drink and just have a good time. This day just reminds me that i have an amazing family filled with people who love me and care about me. This is the day we each say what we're thankful for this year and express our love for eachother. We have as much fun with eachother as possible because we all know that another ThanksgivingDay is not guaranteed. We make the best of the day and we enjoy it all.
I agree with bociana's comment on ThanksGiving. Thanksgiving doesn't always have to be within the family itself. It can also be between two strangers at a soup kitchen or a church. As long as you are thankful for anything and everyone, its a thanksgiving to me. (:

Thanksgiving, for me, is a time to give thanks to God for all that he has given us. Thanksgiving is also a day in which we spend time with our loved ones, give them thanks, and show them how much we value them. Every Thanksgiving me and my family go to my brother's house. There we eat, listen to music, dance, watch movies, play board games, and sing kareoke. Every year we take turns praying; one person is chosen to pray in English and another is chosen to pray in Spanish. This Thanksgiving I hoped everyone had as great of a Thanksgiving as I do each year.

Through out the year we seem to lose sight of the value of our family and friends and we take them for granted. How do you plan to celebrate this Thanksgiving -- Well since im use to spending Thanksgiving in Florida with my mother this Thanksgiving was different because no longer am i in Florida , I am in Newyork with my dad ; nothing happend on my Thanksgiving i spent it at home with my Grandparents , my younger sisters , my dad , & his fiance .
For me Thanksgiving is a time to spend it with my family and friends. Thanksgiving is a time to share laughs for my family and have a really good time. On Thanksgiving I love to play games with my cousins. On Thanksgiving my cousins come over along with my twin uncles and some friends. My grandmother, mother, and grandmother cook a lot of food as well. While the food is ready me and and my cousins usually watch Thanksgiving specials one TV or sit around playing games or listening to music. I love Thanksgiving because of all the fun that I have and the great home cooked meals.

Thanksgiving means sitting down having a wonderful dinner and being thankful for the people you have in your family. The way that I'm celebrating my thanksgiving dinner was to go over to my cousin house along with ny mom and spend the weekend with the family. No perticular person says the pray we just take turns. Thanksgiving is a Holiday we cherish with our loved ones. We take this wonderful day to thank god for the blessings he brought us. We also have to pray for those who are i need. Those who are left in the streets with no family to embrace this day. This Thanksgiving my whole family came to my house everyone brought a dish of food. For me, Thanksgiving is a joyous occasion to gather with friends and loved ones. That seems to change every year. This year it was celebrated with my youngest son and his fiance. It was her first time cooking so I enjoyed helping her out in the kitchen. I met her grandparents and her siblings which was a real pleasure. I am thankful that my son has a good partner in Natalie. Thanksgiving enables me to slow down and allow to come to surface the abundant gratitude I have for so many things: my wife and children, new work in a wonderful school, good and loving friends, the woods behind my house and so much more. In an age of rampant consumerism and "too much", Thanksgiving allows me to recommit to a life of the simple pleasures. The best things in life ARE free.

Thanksgiving to me, means a day were everyone gets to spend time with their families. Where everyone can sit down for once and talk about their days together. To me thanksgiving is a time to give thanks to everything you have your family, your friends everything good in life even some negatives because those negatives may have helped you grow in life. This thanksgiving i planned on just eating and relaxing with my family but it turns out alot of my family came and we blasted music and we were just joking around and dancing, it was very special because its been a while since that has happened.
