I believe that the challenges of my generation is there isn't enough motivation to focus on school without letting personal issues at home interfere with their education. I also believe another challenge of my generation is finding jobs. Now that we are in a recession it is difficult to find a job and lead a successful life. Personally, I can address those challenges by encouraging other student to focus on school work and not let myself be a distraction towards others. I can also address those challenges by finishing my education to the greatest extent while I help others on the way. This would lead other students and myself to a better future.

I believe that the challenges of my generation are peer pressure and a fear of failure. Sometimes, others influence you to do things that are not good. They might also steer you away from a good future. Other times, it is our own fear of being unsuccessful. We fear that we will not make our dreams come to reality. This fear, unfortunately, leads us to our own downfall. I can be a part of addressing these challenges by being an encouraging friend to others. I will help them by giving positive feedback and comments.

Question 1:
I believe that a great challenge of our generation today is that there is an immense lack of motivation in most teens. Many students today do not try to pursue an education and become lackadaisical in their schoolwork because they are not motivated to excel in school and be the very best they can be. Instead, they are satisfied with "just passing". As long as they achieve their passing grade of 65% they are satisfied. Also, a lot of teens today do not take school or their education seriously. They believe that they do not need a good education, and pursue careers such a basketball or the music industry. They do not realize that with effort and hard work they can be the next person to cure an incurable disease or the next President of the
United States. Juniors in high school are faced with the challenge of passing their English, Geometry, US History, Chemistry, Spanish regents, PSATs and SATs, along with their overall classes. This alone causes students to feel pressured and intimidated, which causes most students to feel defeated. These challenges are sometimes looked upon as massive mountains that we will never be able to climb. However, with hard work and dedication, we will be able to one day reach the apex of that mountain and enjoy the wonderful view.

Question 2
I can play a major part in attacking these challenges head-on. One way I can is to encourage them to do their work in school and not become lazy when the workload seems too heavy. I can also help students that are struggling in a particular subject. In doing this, the student can become more confident in their schoolwork and wouldn't want to give up or quit as easily. During the times of our many exams, I can also help my classmates with review, and share a method of easy learning that I learned that will allow students to learn in an easy, fun, and beneficial way. Lastly, I can encourage students to become involved in extra-curricular activities. This will enable students to do more than just pass a class, but to be involved in school. Most colleges do not only look at a student's grades. They also look at their involvement in school. When colleges see that a student was involved in something outside of the classroom, they see the student's dedication to the school, along with them not being lazy and retreating to their couches every day after school. These are a few of the many things that I can do to help address our challenges.

How can you be a part of addressing these challenges?
1. I believe the challenges of my generation are trying to keep children motivated and encouraged to participate in school activities. It's a wonderful way to interact with other students and learn about other things. keeping involved in extra curricular activites is not only a good way to increase your social skills, but it will eventually pay off in the long run; looking great on your transcript for college. I also think a challenge is having students stay focused. Everyone is too busy on Facebook, Twitter, texting, etc. instead of picking up a book and doing theier homework; which results in late night conversations- eventually leading to exhausted yawning kids at school in the morning.
2. I can be a part of addressing these challenges by just simply being a friend to my peers at school, and letting them (especially FRESHMEN) know that high school is no joke. You can be the smartest kid in the class but once colleges see that you aren't involved in ANY activites in school, there's a problem. As for staying focused, children need to realize that time really flies. By the time you look, the semester is over and you say to yourself "what did i do??". So Facebook, Twitter, AOL..all of that can wait. Your education can't.

Today, our generation is facing obstacles that other generations cannot even begin to comprehend. With school especially, adolescents our age are facing trials. The junior year of high school is the MOST important year of our high school career. This is the year where we face the most stress and pressure with overwhelming exams, tons of assignments to complete, and sleepless nights of homework. We are introduced to subjects that are foreign to us such as Chemistry which combines two difficult subjects, Math and Science. We realize that this is the time to grow up and start preparing for a future. We have to make life changing decisions. As I mentioned earlier, we are overwhelmed with work. Some students are taking up to FIVE regents this year including PSATs, SATs, and even ACT exams. We have many responsibilities, as President Barack Obama mentioned in the speech he delivered. We have to decide our future, whether it be a bright one and become a person of change, or if we merely fade in with the rest of the word.

There are many ways in which we can help ourselves. We have to become responsible, set goals, and be persistent. The main responsibility at our age is doing well in school. We are responsible for handing in assignments, completing homework, and studying our subjects. We have to do our part. We can also set goals for ourselves. We can try to become more involved in activities, or try to get to class on time, set aside some time at night to turn off the television and turn on our minds by reading a book or reviewing our classwork. However, if we are not motivated and determined to do these things, then we will fail. We need to say what we do and do what we say. Most importantly, we cannot give up on ourselves. Teachers, principals, parents, and friends, may give up on you. Nevertheless, as long as you never quit on yourself, the sky is the limit. We can succeed. We can overcome this year. "We can do all through Christ who strengthens us." "YES WE CAN!"

I believe that the challenges of my generation are the examples shown by some of the more popular celebrities, irresponsible parents, siblings or friends/peers. Many rappers who are very much looked up to, get into legal trouble that sometimes results in incarceration or write songs about drug use & violence, few parents neglect their children who may or may not react by acting out when not at home, some older siblings might bully their younger brothers or sisters, and some students get sucked into peer pressure. This all has a negative effect, especially on the younger children of our world. I can be a part of addressing these challenges by helping my younger cousins avoid getting sucked into peer pressure and telling them to influence their friends in the same way.

Jailene R.
First off, let me start off my saying that I really enjoyed President Obama's speech. This was the first speech that I had ever heard from a president and it was really amazing. He was very sincere in telling us about his childhood struggles and wanting us to succeed just as he did. He makes me want to try even harder in my schoolwork and do the best that I can possibly do this year. He is a great man and I'm very glad he is my president. Heading off that topic, I would like to say that all teenagers have struggles and challenges that they must overcome to even make it to school everyday. Whether it be financial problems, family problems, or even study problems, everyone has a story to tell every school year. I think that the most common challenge of my generation is dealing with family conflicts. Almost everyday I hear stories about a mother and daughter having an argument, a father and son disagreement, or a death n the family. Family conflicts affect a big part of teenagers because that's the envoirnment you live in; the place you go to everday before and after school. They say to 'leave your problem's at home' but honestly, that's almost impossible to do. You can try your hardest not to bring it up in a discussion or talk about what's going with someone else, but it's always going to be your mind. It's hard to eliminate problems like these, but these are the major problems that us teenagers do deal with. Maybe time with guidance councelors will help us out; kids in my school take full advantage of them when they can.

1.I believe the challenges of our generation are overcoming an immensive amount of debt. The challenges that our generation face are the lack of education.Students are dropping out and our economy is slumping down.Health care reform is in order and no one is working hard for it.The rising rate of unemplyment and the lack of new jobs .

2. I can be apart of adressing this challenge by making little changes in my own life. I can work hard toward an education and never give up. I can talk to others about what is going on and get some ideas on how we can make a difference. I can start out small by trying to counsel young children . This way i can become their inspiration to try to always strive .

I really enjoyed what Jailene said because in away she is right. The biggest challenge stidents face is the lack of family input. Everyday a child is unable to go to school because they dont have enough food to eat ,the good clothes,or the motivation. Sometime a child faces abuse and this removes their will to study. If we can over come this then we can suceed because one failure leads to a thousand reputable aspiration and completed goals.

I believe the challenges of my generation are peer pressure, the media and family issues. Teens in America get a lot of peer pressure from their friends. Peer pressure is a challenge for my generation because many teens get influenced to do wrong and end up being unsuccessful in the future. The media puts out that being on reality shows, rapping, singing and modeling are the only ways that make a person successful (which is NOT TRUE!) and thats why many teens drop out of school to become something they might not even be. Most teens have family issues such as abuse or a sick family member. Issues like these make my generation unfocused at school and effect us in many ways. I can be part on addressing these challeneges by telling friends and other teens my age not to let peer pressure, the media, or family problems get in the way of your education. Achieve your goals and take responsibility of your future.

Question 1 :
The challenges in our generation would have to be : The violence that is going on . I belive if violence was cut to a minimum students would do better in school . It seems now that the ression that is going on parents are more worried about the money in the household then what their children are doing . Wich is making kids join gangs and things like that because they feel if their parents aren't showing them love they will get it from somewhere eles . So their not worried about there homework or when the next project is do , their worring about fighting and being out in the street all day .

Question 2 :
How can we be apart of adressing these challenges . Simple , as funny as it may seem children out there do want to learn they see how their parents are struggling and it makes them want to do better . I think that if there where more programs out there for our generation things would end up getting better .

I agree with Schae. Many students of my generation do not take school seriously. Just because they past by the skin of their teeth, they think that they're in the clear and can be an actor, basketball player, or model. Being famous does not mean you do not need an education. Teens from my generation need to know you need an education to become famous!

1. In every generation (not just in mine) there have been many difficult and overwhelmed challenges that have been faced and will continue to be faced over time. Since the question was what do you believe are the challenge of your generation, I mine as well answer what I was questioned. In my generation, we faced many challenges from school work to situations at home also from peer pressure from our fellow classmates to adapting in new situations that we may not often be familiar with. My generation so far fear about the mark we will have on the PSAT which will take place October 14th and the SAT which will be in May. These are two very important exams (aside from the Regents), that will determined our future. It will most importantly determine whether are not we will have a scholarship for college. However, with Junior being the most important year, everybody- well let me narrow it down, my circles of friends is trying to do very well this year. I am aware that we have so many challenges to face with so little of time, school wise. We have to worry about having a really good average in every class, we have to worry about passing our regents so we won’t take them over again-since the following year we will be a Senor, we have to know which college we would like to go to and the amount of tuition it has. Colleges are very expensive so we would have to work extra hard in order to get a full of half scholarship. Beside the challenges we faced in school, my generation may have faced many things that have to do with their way of life. I do admit we are changing: both physically and mentally. Physically, simply because if we look at our features they are not the same compared to 10 years ago and mentally because we are wiser compared to the age when we just started being a teenager (thirteen-fourteen). Now, at the age of sixteen-seventeen, we are almost finish the step of being a teenager, after our teen years we will become young adults. As you can see, in life we go through many phases. Also, another challenge my generation has been facing is peer pressure. Peer pressure is something that will always be there no matter what. I look outside a lot of people I have once known are in gangs or they constantly get suspended for fighting because they want to keep their reputation. They want to be known as someone who doesn’t take anything from nobody. If we don’t get out of these situations fast, what kind of future would we have? How can we survive in this society? What kind of example we are setting for our younger siblings? I feel that sometimes my generation can be quite selfish because they only think of themselves, they don’t see the decisions that they make are affecting us-us Americans. We are so smart we can do so much with our knowledge and better the world; all we have to do is try. President Obama said “Some of the successful people in the world are the ones who had the most failures”-so if rejection we are afraid of, we need to overcome it and give things a try because it doesn’t hurt to try and take that extra step of being successful

2. I can be part of addressing these challenges by continuing to study, participate, and asked questions about things I don’t understand and I advise my generation to do the same because we all want to pass this junior year and the PSAT/SAT and regents. We need to be more focused by putting the phone down and opened a book to read or a textbook to study. By doing so we shall have no fear of failing or becoming who we want to be in life.

I really agreed on what Jailene said especially a mother and daughter having disagreements. I am talking from experience, it seem like my mother and i can never agree on anything now a days.Sometimes i feel that she doesn't try to put her self in my shoes to see how it feels like. I understand she has it really hard since she is paying my school but i just wished she saw things from my point of view-so that's a challenge i am always facing.

Question 1: What do you believe are the challenges of your generation?
I believe the challenges of my generation is fear of showing who they are, doing for themselves, wanting the best in their lives and not letting their past affect who they are today. The fear of them showing who they are is when the student knows that he/she is very good at something but is very afraid that if they show who they really are with positive attitude they worry how people will react towards them. In life you are only to worry about yourself and not about others because you are the one living your life not the other person, do what you want and be who you are. To figure out whom you are and what you want you are going to have to push and strive and want it for you and yourself only. If you think you deserve something special you are the only person that has to want it. Many people have went through trauma in their past lifetime but that doesn't mean that you have to portray it now in this lifetime, be who you are because another day is always a great way to start new and achieve and reach your goals.

Question 2: How can you be part of addressing these challenges?
The way I can be part of addressing these challenges are by giving a BIG HAND OF ADVICE by showing that EDUCATION is the KEY and if you think that you definitely DESERVE this opportunity then do your best to beat every obstacles. I can also be more encouraging in these situations by doing for myself but always have a HELPING HAND to help others. I feel that addressing that you don't have to live your past. Your past is your past that if you held on to a certain grudge for a while that this is the time to make a change. This change will better yourself for the better because you can know for yourself that you have the power to overcome any obstacle and not let your problems come with you on your journey. I believe that everyone should do for themselves, live their lives, be independent, and be happy on their journey to the future.

I believe some of the challenges of our generation are laziness, excuse, and procrastination. Their are challenges in our homes that make many of us feel education just isn't worth the trouble, that it couldn't possibly bring a brighter better future. It's all sort of come to a lack of hope. I can be apart of addressing these challenges by making sure i don't fall into hopelessness when things get tough. To make sure i push myself even if i feel like putting things off. Even being an accountability partner to someone else and check up on how their doing and if their keeping up with their education.

I took the time to read some other blog responses and i must say i completely agree with Krystle L. Peer Pressure and the fear of failure is definitely a major challenge to our generation. I wish i had placed that in my own blog because it is so true and even I have faced these challenges myself. Fear of failure makes many of us just give up before we've even really done something. And i agree that if we were all just a little more encouraging to each other we can help each other to face this challenge together.

I believe the challenges on my generation are trying to become successful in this world. Education gets wiser every year and more things are happening to the world. Its hard to try and become something that will help the people, enviornment, and the science of the world. Its hard getting the education you need when your from a unfortunate home where you cant aford the best education. But at the same time i believe that can only push you further. I believe when you arent able to have something, it pushes you further to strive for it. To prove that no matter what situation your in, you can always achieve greater success.

I think by taking advantage of every helpful education class, or even helping out the community you are addressing the challenge that you need to become successful in you life. I believe you can never get anywhere without hardwork, and when you do all the hardwork it will pay off in a long run.

I believe that our generation has had to deal with many challenges especially during these times. One challenge would be technology. We have so many new gadgets that take our mind away from what is truly important. Another challenge would be the economic struggle that each and one of our families are going through. This is a crucial challenge because it puts us into a situation that forces us to try and get a job. Getting a job can be a blessing but also it can be a hardship because having a job can leave you a lesser amount of time to focus on school.
I think that one way i can be part of addressing the challenges of my generation would be by trying to promote the skill of learning to manage time better. Also by promoting strength and will power to not get dragged into the new technologies and gadgets of our world today.

I agree with you, it is harder now because we are in recession. i do believe the best we can do is listen to the government and focus on our school work and try our best. Because maybe in the future we could solve this problem.

Meraris Gonzalez said...

I do agree one hundred percent with the challenges that Kyrstle Lewis mentioned in her blog. Peer pressure is a big challenge for each and one of us. We are so overwhelmed with our other challenges that when someone we want to be like presents to us something that is not good for us we give in because of the pressure to fit in. Another challenge that really interested me was when she mentioned that our fear can lead to our downfall. Which is true because when you let your fear take over your emotions and of your mind it is very hard to break free and move on to be successful in whatever you do.

Justine A. said...

I believe the challenges of my generation is to study more often. Getting your work done and always asking teachers for help, it's important for you to ask teachers for help to make sure that you understand or if you're having trouble with your work. You want to make sure you don't fail and never give up on things. You want to make sure you stay on top of your game, set your goals and success in life. Many students don't realize that they end up giving up and don't want to try. If they work hard and do what they are suppose to do then they will become anything that they want to be and make good money. You want to do what is right for you and be a role model to these little kids and show them why your education is important.

2. The role that I can address to these challenges to make sure I have all my work, done, getting enough sleep. I have to be willing to study like for two or three hours pass all my classes with good grades not grades like 65 but better. I have to make a list to make myself a better person and also for me to have a good future. I would help others that needs help, i would also set an example to others. I would give other students of how your education is important and making sure you don't fail in life.

I strongly believe that the challenges of my generation include the distraction of technology and the lack of support from family and friends to do well in school. The newest technology including cell phones, iPods, computers, and video games distract most teenagers from doing daily homework and from studying. Teenagers are more interested in computer sites like Facebook and Twitter than their homework. The lack of support from family and friends is also a challenge many members of my generation face. If teenagers come home from school and have family members that aren't interested or concerned with school related issues, they're more likely to not be concerned either. If students know they have people concerned about their education they will most likely do their best to succeed.

I can help my fellow peers by being a big encouragement to them. I can give words of inspiration about moving forward in education and succeeding. I can provide examples of teenagers who decided to drop out and not believe in themselves and show them examples of people who did do well and made the decision to succeed in school. I can also be a tutor to anyone falling behind in school work. If they don't understand the course I can help them re-group, re-organize, and help them catch up on the current lesson.

I agree with Sascha's comment on responsibility. She pointed out that it is time for us to grow up because we have a lot of decision making to do and a lot of tests to take. We as a young and up coming generation will one day be responsible for America. As President Obama said, "What will this generation contribute to the country?".

Unknown said...

I believe that a challenge of my generation is that there isnt enough encouragment for kids to go to school. Many kids take it as a joke. That droping out and cutting will get them a good job. Little do they know that with even a high school education they cant make a sufficent living. It is very important to go to school and get an education. President Obama is one of my role modles and is a postive person i look up to. His speech inspired me as well as thousnads of Americans.

I feel that the challenges of our generation today is the amount of media. The lies they put in the kids heads today and the want of material things. I also feel another challenge is lack of motivation from parents. Many Parents are to busy working and trying to maintain a well kept house to be really focus about their child's education. Also many kids do not take education seriouly. Some ways i can address those challenges is to first myself be focus on my school work making the best grades possible then I can encourage others to do the same. I also can help other teens who are stuggle in a area that I perform well in.

What do you believe are the challenges of your generation?

The challenges of my generation now is that not many kids my age are taking their education seriously what so ever, but still seem to want so much in life. You can't expect to be given when you havent provided much. Its not that there isn't much motivation its your choice to want to succeed and do better and make something of yourself and give yourself a brighter future. President Obama said everyone has a talent now its the matter of realizing whats your talent and making something of it. Everyone is capable of being a success now its getting down to work thats the issue. Its not easy and as hard as one person might think that they have it hard, theres always someone that has it worse.

How can you be a part of addressing these challenges?

I never say no if someone needs a helping hand. I am very honest and if someone who wants so much in life and wants to get far I will tell them I dont know how your gonna get there. How are you going to have this dream car you want to drive? How are you going to have this dream house you want to live in? The expensive clothes? Well its simple and the answer is HARD WORK! Have confidence in yourself, and take care of yourself first, and if you can't do that then you have to sort it out. Everyones capable of what they wanna do, so this generation please stop being lazy and get to work your education is EVERYTHING!

Addressing Najimahs comment I agree. Todays generation does very much look up to what they see on television. They see these reality shows about teens and all their fortune from their parents and they come to believe if theres other kids living that life so can they. Its easier for kids who already have parents who are rich, but not everyone gets it that easy. This generation has to look past the "glamour" they see on television and get to reality.

Cae'Bre said...

I believe that the challenges of my genereation is that there is so many bad influences that us teens have to deal with on a daily basis. We have to deal with other teens that are not doing as well as we are and they try to influence us to do bad as well, they try to lead us down the path they are going down. The way I can help address these problems is to make sure i dont get pressured in all these types of things or I can make sure none of my friends dont as well. I think if there was no peer pressure at all then there would be more kids in school then out, because other kids try to force other kids to do what the think is cool.

I agree with what Felicia said in her blog. It is very hard to find motivation in school because it can be very boring sometimes and us teens do need some kind of entertainment during the day, also with the if we have the best education and we go to an IVY League school we still wont be able to get a job. That's also what some of us teens are worried about. Because you could have the best education in the world and you still wont be able to earn the money your suppose to get because of the recession

Unknown said...

My response to Krystle blog is that she is right about our generation having fear of faling because we do eventually fear this having said this we can change by putting our priority first.
My response to Felicia is that our generation isn't getting a lot of motivation from people and saying this they don't strive and put there fullest potential of earning what is good for them. This results in they worry more on the life they living instead of what is good for them.
My response to Sheina is that our generation should come together, going to activites that can benifit for them. More activites should open up not only in school but in different communities because they allow others that have troubles can go and try and make changes to their life.
My response ti Najimah is that she is right about the rappers being looked up to but some of them should be looked up to as mentors for what they have done in their life and how they changes, while those rappers who still struggle throughout their life should take time for themselves, think about what they say in their songs and not be a bad influence to us young people.
I think that everyone have caught the point of this blog, the questions, and some points that Barack Obama said.

i believe the challenges of my generation are trying many teenagers are trying to keep up with the latest trends, songs, etc. and loose track of their studies. another challenge is they get intimidated by their peers feeling they're going to be teased for using their time to do their school work instead of hanging out with friends.
i can be a part of adressing these challenges by being a leader and not a follower and giving an example of what doing your work first can do for you.

I believe that the challenges of my generation is that most of us live in a disfunctional family. This affects our daily lives.Students get lazy in school and get very distracted. Another challenge in my generation is that we settle for less.If we are in a hard class we settle for a 65 because its passing. I can adress those challenges by encouraging other students that they our worth a whole lot. I would also help them out in any class if possible.

Yarelyn.E said...

I believe that the challenges in my generation is the lack of most teens not wanting to go to school or just not caring enough about it. Many teens these day are not very interested in their school work and are interested about other things in life. For example they are more focused on what their friends might think of them if they decide to stay home and study for their test instead of going out and doing things their really not supposed to be doing. Most teens are not concentrating on their work because of their enviorment or problems at home with their families. Another reason as to why most teens are not focusing on their work is because of the economic crisis they might feel that there is no use of going to collage if they wont be able to pay. What I can do to be part of addressing these challanges is by encouraging others to do whats right and telling them that if they dont get an education their really not going to go anywhere in life. I will also try to show them my best example so that it can encourage them to go back to school, finish, and be successful in life.

Yarelyn.E said...

Yes, I do agree with Jailene's comment about the challenges our generation are facing today. She is right I do belive that most teens are having a lot of problems back home and sometimes they dont know where or who to go to. Most teens have a lot of problems these days and they dont know what to do and most of them think that telling or talking to their parents are not going to help them whatsoever. I also agree that time with counselors can help us out because keeping in and not talking about your problems and what you feel inside might cause a lot of negative things to occur.

I agree with Krystle L. We do face peer pressure and many adolescents fear failures. It become very overwhelming and stressful to know you are failing which can contribute to more failures. It is our own downfall, as Krystle stated. However, we can encourage one another, support one another, and lend a helping hand to those suffering with this fear and also strengthen ourselves, become united as one and succeed together.

1. Challenges my generation face are things like distractions from
technology and the way our media is turning out to be like. Theres so much new technology out like i phones, i pods, sidekicks its all a distraction.I feel with less of these things we can concentrate more. Our Media also has a big influence on us all. They show a lot a things about teen pregnancy on t.v and make it look like its okay. Truth is it isn't ,thats whats holding a lot of people in our generation back almost all my friends who are 19 and younger have either had a baby or is pregnant.

2.I could help by talking to the kids of my generation and be honest with them as i am being with myself. we all love our phones and texting but it really is a big distraction. Another thing i could do is talk to the younger kids of our future and show them how theses things are effecting us and hopefully they'll try and stop it from effecting them.

I agree with what Sascha, Sheina Jailene stated. First, I agree with Jailene when she stated that students should take advantage of discussing their problems with trusted adults such as our guidance counselors. Most times, our guidance counselors are able to help us with many of our problems by giving us great advice on how to solve them. I think its safe to say that our guidance counselors have our backs and want us to succeed in life. Secondly, I agree with Sascha when she says that we shouldn't give up on ourselves because we are the only ones to keep pushing ourselves to do better. In the words of Obama..."Yes we can!" Also, its true when we rely on our heavenly father we do find the strength that He so freely gives. Lastly, Sheina's last comment about facebook, myspace, twitter, and aol is sooo true. When we waste our valuable time on those things, it can conflict on our schoolwork. Why don't we put all of that aside and focus on our education, and not only our education, but succeeding to achieving an excellent education!

I believe the challenges of my generation are peer pressure, the media and family issues. Teens in America get a lot of peer pressure from their friends. Peer pressure is a challenge for my generation because many teens get influenced to do wrong and end up being unsuccessful in the future. The media puts out that being on reality shows, rapping, singing and modeling are the only ways that make a person successful (which is NOT TRUE!) and that’s why many teens drop out of school to become something they might not even be. Most teens have family issues such as abuse or a sick family member. Issues like these make my generation unfocused at school and effect us in many ways. I can be part on addressing these challenges by telling friends and other teens my age not to let peer pressure, the media, or family problems get in the way of your education. Achieve your goals and take responsibility of your future.

I agree with Schae. Many students of my generation do not take school seriously. Just because they past by the skin of their teeth, they think that they’re in the clear and can be an actor, basketball player, or model. Being famous does not mean you do not need an education. Teens from my generation need to know you need an education to become famous!

I agree with Krystle because there are many different types of peer pressure and young teenagers do not think what they are doing is wrong. They simply think nothing can go wrong because I have a stable head on my shoulders. However, that can easily turn out to be not true because one thing can lead to another and there is no way you can change what you did. I can influence others by simply giving them advice and letting them know that I am here to help in any way I can.I can also be involved with school activities and encourage my classmates to join along with me so they have a better use of there time.

I think that some of the challenges my generation faces today include peer pressure. Another issue maybe money due to the bad economy. Peer pressure often takes you off track. I agree with President Barack that we should stay serious about school and not give in to others. Also, financial issues may distract you and lead you to do things that might take away from studying time or homework. Something that could possibly distract a student could be a job or chores because it may be only their responsibility.
To address these challenges what i could do is maybe advise one of my peers if i know they are straying from school to maybe work harder and help them with their issues. I think that we owe it to our country to make it a better place and for that we need educated people and if we see someone that is struggling we should help them out with anything as little as a pen.

MARLENE said...

I agree with Felicia when she stated that we should finish our education but at the same time help others on the way. I believe that we should always lend a hand because we never know when we might need it. I think success is a ladder in which we can climb easier if someone is holding it at the bottom and supporting us.

I think the challenges of this generation is different and difficult to understand because many people are drop out from the school only that they don’t want to continue study or be educated for that they can get good job or be some one very important in their life and also be successful in life. Because the education sometimes it can get expensive and also the parents cannot afford to pay for a good course that they like for that can continue study and this point of time they are not good job to work on.

I believe that the challenges of my generation are that there isn't enough focus on school, family problems, the fear of being unsuccessful, and trying to keep yourself on the right path. Being focused in school is a very big problem for many students. Many students that have problems focusing in school may be caused from their family conflicts that they go through everyday or even conflicts that they go through with close friends may cause a great impact on them that doesn't let them focus enough on school. To help students overcome these conflicts I would encourage them to go see their school guidance councelor for advice or even go see a psychiatrist with their family to speak to all of them so they can solve their problems together and it can also bring their relationship closer to one another. I also believe that the fear of being unsuccessful and trying to keep yourself on the right path are other difficult challenges in my generation. Students that have fear of being unsuccessful may be caused because they might have trouble learning in some classes because every teacher teachers differently and they might not be accustomed to their way of teaching so it might affect their grades in certain courses. If students are not accustomed very well to the way each teacher teaches and they notice that other students don't ever have a problem in school and that it's easier for them to maintain a high average, this may lead to them having a low self-esteem on their school work and as a person, making them think that they are not smart enough or good enough as the rest of their classmates. Having a low self-esteem of yourself may lead students to an unsuccessful path in life. In other words, they may choose wrong decisions for themselves that leads them to a wrong path in life. In order to help any students that are having trouble in school I would suggest for them to either ask for a tutor in their school to tutor them in the course they need help in or even I would help them myself in that course if I'm very well at it. As for the students that have a low self-esteem I would most likely encourge them to as well go to their school guidance councelor, their parents, or psychiatrist to help them with that.

I believe that the challenges of my generation today are that students are given tremendous opportunities to learn in school, but they do not take it seriously. Many students do not feel that it is important to ask for help when it is needed or take the time out away from their friends to spend and extra hour or two studying. Several opportunities are handed to students when a teacher offers his or her extra time after school to teach a lesson or prepare for an important exam. Students show no sign of persistance or determination to excell on a subject they are struggling with. Sometimes, students go straight home or hang out after school instead of getting a head start on a project or a term paper. These challenges come from students who do not care about their grades or school. I think that this is one of the many challenges of my generation.

I can be a part of addressing these challenges by being a motivator. I know that it is every student's responsibility to achieve greatly in school, however, if there is a student that wants help, I would be more than happy to offer them my help. I think that I can show encouragement to students who are slacking back, because like our school motto "Rise up and Reach out," not only I ,but WE can reach out to others to help people who are in need of it. If we come together as one, then we can surley movitvate students to take advantages of offers for extra help or classes. Success does not come easy and if you need to stay after school a couple of hours to learn something, then it is well worth it.

Bociana Plaisimond said...

I agree with Katrina. I feel that with all the modern technologies of soceity today, students lose focus of their priorities and responsibilites. Students need to come up with the latest phone, dress in namebrands, listen to music, and buy videogames. These things become their main needs instead of working hard in school. Sometimes, if they do not get the latest sneaker or clothes, then they feel out of place and feel the need to constantly keep up with everything. If society focused less on material things and more on education, i think it would help students or at least have them come to an understanding that life isn't about the latest trends; so focus in school and be the best student you can possibly be.

I agree with Yarelyn and back her opinion up 100%. She brought up great examples of why many students these days are not attending school which is because they care to much of what other people may think of them. It is very true that many students are not attending school or the ones that attend school are not working to their greatest potiental because they care to much of what others might think which is very childish to me. I think it's very childish because the people that they are worrying about are just doing it to bother other students and bring them down to their own level. If you know that you're very smart and have the potiental to do whatever you want in life than you should go for your dream. As for Yarelyn including her opinion about students not wanting to attend college because of their lack of money isn't an excuse to drop out or not attend school. They can apply for financial-aid and I'm very sure that the government would be glad to pay a student's tutition if they know that they are very intelligent and see that they really want to be someone in life.No matter what conflict that stops you from going to school you should always think twice about it because in reality there is nothing stopping you from attending school but yourself.

I can be part of addressing this challenges is starting to be focus in the thing that I want to be in life and also helping the next generation that are going to school or helping the people that most need to be successful in there life’s or that they want to be important in this generation. I agree with Felicia and with Kris because we can be educated and help the other to get educated. The teens from my generation can get famous very easy but the thing that they don't know that we can get famous if we are educated and become successful!

Najimah said...

I agree with Felicia's statement. A lot of students are not interested in putting their all into their schoolwork and are too dependent on receiving money from their parents to get their own jobs. If we set the example by graduating high school with honors and getting jobs at an early age, future generations may follow in our footsteps and help their friends who might be falling behind.

I believe that my generation has many challenges and such those that might be most difficult to others. We today face many challeneges due to race and diffirent life styles we live. At the homes of many of us we face many difficult issue either financially, or personal. People say that you are not to bring your problems from home into where you learn, but for others that is very hard to do. Now during this rough time in the stock marketing and prices are rising and were facing a very rough economic time many people tend to drop out of school because lack of money. I believe that the only way to be a part of addressing the challenges will be to become very successfull and show to others that education is very important and it is well worth it. It might be very hard for others and even for yourself but that way to end these challenges and become a great intelligant person in our generation today.

I agree with Destiny's blog about kids our age today wanting so much in life but then they dont tend to take school seriously. Kids and also those younger need to begin taking school seriously high school is no joke and many people think that even though they might not pay attention in school or follow up with assignment there are going to be able to be successful with an average of 75 and below. College is so much more different then High School and i dont think we should not attend due to money issues. I believe that education should be at the peoples will with money or without. You can attend to college and apply for financial aid or EOP and etc. to help pay tuition and other expenses. Many people think life is a joke and education values nothing but to me education is the value of life and becoming successful.

1.I THINK THE CHALLENGES OF MY GENERATION IS TO STAY FOCUS IN SCHOOL, STUDY AND BECOME A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON OTHER INDIVIDUALS. ALSO TO NEVER OUT YOURSELF DOWN AND STAY IN SCHOOL NO MATTER WHAT. EVEN THERE IS PROBLEMS PHYSICALLY,MENTALLY, OR SOCIALLY WE NEED TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL AND HAVE A POSITIVE OUTLOOK.
2.I CAN BE APART OF ADDRESSING THESE CHALLENGES BY DOING BETTER IN SCHOOL AND SETTING A GOAL FOR MYSELF. SETTING A GOAL CAN HELP ME BY AIMING FOR THE BETTER AND NOT SETTLING FOR THE WORSE. ESPECIALLY FOR ME THIS IS A YEAR I NEED TO CONCENTRATE AND BE FOCUSED. SO A GOAL CAN HELP ME PASS AND BE ABLE TO GRADUATE AND HAVE A PROPER EDUCATION.IF I SET THIS CHALLENGE OR ANY CHALLENGE IN LIFE I COULD BE APART OD HISTORY AND BETTER MYSELF.

ITS HARD FOR A NEW STUDENT TO GET USED TO A NEW SCHOOL BUT IF YOU SET YOUR MIND TO IT YOU CAN MAKE IT THREW ANYTHING. AND THE COMPUTER IS DEFINETLY A DISTRACTION WITH MYSPACE, TWITTER, AIM ETC. SCHOOL IS MORE IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU NEED EDUCATION TO BECOME SOMEONE. "IF YOU WANNA BE SOMEBODY IF YOU WANNA GO SOMEWHERE YOU BETTER WAKE UP AND PAY ATTENTION."

Question 1:
I believe that the challenges of my generation are that we as students live in a society in wish things are easily available to us and so we can get any thing we want and also, there is to much pressure in the world for being fat, skinny, tall, short. There are alot of bad influences in world today. Also, the way the enviroment functions, it is bad for us becuase we see to many bad things and sometimes follow them. Many students would like to fit in so they follow the people who themselves cool and ofcourse those are the ones that do wrong. Another challenge is trying to do what right and not follow other and staying in school. And definitly a big challenge is trying to learn that life is not handed to you on a silver platter, you have to work hard for whatever you want to be in life.

Question 2:
I can be part of addressing these challenges by getting involved in a community or service which not only benefits me and my future but also others. Also, creating a group in my school which helps others, for example a study group or even a group that helps with problems and definitly a group that is there if any students would like to talk about there feelings and problems. anything that can help take there mines out of trouble. Trying to get other students from other school involved can help greatly.

My comment on felicia's comment about us not having enough motivation to focus on school, i do not agree becuase i feel that we do have enough motivation, just not from the right people that we will listen to and agree with. This is why now that obama has spoken to us, maybe more students like me will look deep within what he has said and undersatnd that he is right and it is time for us to make a change and make a difference in this world. we are the future. Noone else but us can be the change we need in this world. This is why obama feels that we can be the 1. we can be the change, he believe in us. He knows what students of the united states and all over the owlrd are capable of and will stand by us through it all. He is the motivation we have and the main motivation we need becuase he is a perfect example in every way that no matter where you come from, how you used to live, where you are now, you can make it.

I can't speak for my entire generation, but I can speak for myself; My challange is that I'm not being challenged. As a person of low income I find that the general society lowers the bar for me and others so that we can just get by. Society expects less of me, making it more difficult for more to succeed. Standards get lowered for people of lower income because society believes that we would not otherwise be able to match up to their "real" standards; in their eyes, a lower income equals a lower level of intelligence. Education should not be in accordance of your economic status. Just because your parents are of the working class does not mean that your mental capabilitly is less than that of a child of the upper class, and you should not be treated that way. All children should recieve an equal education. The money in my pocket does not define the amount of information I can grasp.
When I speak with students who attend schools that cater to wealthier families I notice that their level of education is far more advanced than mine. Many students I know have also noticed this and for several it has discouraged them, and they think "What's the point of even trying to do well in school if when I gradute I will be behind anyway?" Which brings up another challenge...motivation. Instead of using that idea to demote yourself, you should use it as fuel. If you feel like your not learning enough in school, go to the library and educate yourself. The main challenge of my generation is that there are no challenges, life has become far too easy and children, too lazy. The real challenge is pulling yourself away from the television and opening a book.
I can be a part of addressing these challenges by being an example. I can enroll in extra classes, increase the amount of reading i do, become familiar with what they are teaching in other schools, and teach myself what my school does not.

I believe the challenges of my generation is the lack of interest in school.Other challenges of my generation are bad communtiess where there are gangs of people standing on the street corner. Not educated , those who have dropped out of school. These gangs influence the teens of my my generation in many bad ways, they make it seem that the money on the street is faster than the money that you would make with an education is better but it is not. The big difference is that the money that you would make on the streets is illegal, and the money that you would make with an education is better. These thhings distract us everyday , and are the major cause of dropouts.Another challenge that my generation faces is finding jobs. Since we are in a recession alot of jobs are not willing to hire young teens suchas myself due to money lost in the stock markets.

Josephine Rodriguez said...

I believe that of the challenges that us as teens face is peer pressure, trying to fit in , cutting school, etc. also not caring about school as much as watching t.v or hanging out with your friends. We all want to be successful in life have a good future but we cant have a good future if we dont stop and get seriouse with our schoolwork. Us as Juniors, We are faced with alot this year like doing well in our U.S History , English , Geometry , Spanish and for some of us with Chemistry regents and also PSATs and SATs and this year counts the most cause colleges start looking at you so we have to keep our grades high and good.
I can help by talking or helping out young students with their classwork or even with problems that they are facing as well and just pushing them to take school more seriouly and to try their best.

Josephine Rodriguez said...

I agree with Jailene because most of the problems are at home so we come to school with a negative mind thinking that if no one cares about you so why should you care. And I also argee with Krystle because it could be also fear. The fear of failing again in life but we have start thinking of our future cause we all have dreams of being someone very successful one day.

I believe that there are many challenges for my generation. I feel that as young kids we dont have much people to look up at as an inspiration. We are constantly watching famous rappers, singers, and athletes on television and i think that has given most young people a preconceived notion that we can just become basketball players and singers and that will make us successful. We dont have people to really push us to do good in school and to go after our dreams. Another challenge i feel that is out there is is technology. Even though its here to help us, technology hurts us more. We have cell phones, i-pod's and other electronics that distract us from our schoolwork. Technology i feel, is doing all our work for us and at the click of a mouse our homework is done. I can address these challenges by trying hard to focus on my studies. If i am able to do that, i can act as an inspiration and model for success for kids in generations to come.

I agree with Sascha's comment on responsibility. She pointed out that it is time for us to grow up because we have a lot of decision making to do and a lot of tests to take. We as a young and up coming generation will one day be responsible for America. As President Obama said, "What will this generation contribute to the country?".

I believe that the challenges of our generation are mostly focus in school beacuse of the problems that manytennagers are facing at home with their parents and family. Teens are letting their problems take over their lives and that makes them not focus in school and start doing bad until they jus feel like dropping out. Also, many teens don't take school seriously, they think school is boring and that they don't need it or maybe they are just lazy, but they don't realize how important is to get an education for them and their future because if they don't try they will never know if they were actually really good at something that could make a big difference in the world.

1. Our generation faces many challenges in today's world. Peer pressure is one of the biggest issues we face today. Many kids will do anything to fit in with what's considered "hot" or whatever is the "new trend" at the moment. It causes teens to have low self esteem and to do things that can harm themselves and others around them. Not only that, but many kids in this age are lazy and do not see the point in taking school seriously. The recession not only effects adults but teens also. Some teens have to work to help support their families or maybe financial issues at home causes a lot of fighting which is never easy to handle.

2. I can help address these problems by contributing what I can at this moment. If a friend has a problem they need to talk about I can be there to listen and give advice. If someone needs help in a class I can help them if I know how to solve the problem. I can also help by rejecting peer pressure myself and setting an example for other teens out there. All they have to know is that things eventually will get better because bad things can not last forever.

Catherine said...

I agree with Yarelyn's comment because she has many challenges that our generation is facing right now, that are very true. Shesaid that one reason as to why many teens are not focusing in school is beacuse of the economic crisis and they feel like they are not going to be able to pay for college, so they feel like there is no point of going to school. I completely agree wit her comment because many of us are going through this, we are struggling withe the economy and we are worrying alot about how we are going to pay college.

I believe the challenges of my generation are the violence in the streets, issues at home, and getting into what famous people think is life like drugs and alcohol. Another challenge is students dropping out of school feeling that they don't belong there because of people putting them down. I can address these challenges be being role models for students in school like freshmen to understand your life and school is important and coming together as one to help each other in the future.

Rachel said...

Reflecting to Shenia's comment, I agree that we should show students that school is very important and to stay focus in your education and become someone important in your lives. We should be friends and be leaders to our friends and even students to show you can have your fun moments but school comes first.

Unknown said...

One of the biggest challenge for my generation is education. I believe this because a lot of the times students don't have the right motivation at home to do well and depending on the type of school, the motivation may not be there either. Another issue is the economy. Due to the recession things are becoming more expensive including tuitions for colleges. Although most people can get into a college there may be a problem in being able to afford it.

I believe that the challenges of my generation is the pressure of fitting in and doing good in school. Many students take advantage of the education their getting. while many other children across the world are not able to recieve the same education. Another challenge is that some kids are not pusing them selves to do well in school. i fell thta i can help by finding a groups of friends that can help me and that i can help so that we can fell confident about school. Instead of being on aim , the phone or hanging out we need to focus on doing better so that we can make a better future for ourselves.

i believe that the challenges of my generation are to finish high school (and not drop out) and peer pressure. school can get complicated and make people feel stressed and not want to do the work. which causes them to drop out or fail. we need more motivation today to help us stay in school because majority of people our age barely goes to school. we need our education to get a good paying job. alot of people in our are group does things based on what their friends do (which sometimes isnt good).
i can address these challenges by trying my best to finish school with high grades and try to motivate myself and others to do good. and then we can decrease the number of drop outs in our age group.

I would like to say that I enjoyed listening to President obama's speech adressing the youth generation. Obama made very good points about different things the youth community goes through in everyday life, whether that is dealing with issues at home or not having anyone to look up to. I think that some of the challenges my generation goes through is not believing in themselves. Many people my age do not have confidence in themselves and do not work to their full potenial. I also think that another one of our challenges are dealing with family life then coming to school and dealing with challenges we face here. Many students should find a way to seprate life from home and school. They should learn to have the goal of achieving sucess because it will pay off in the future. Iam very happy we have a presdient like Obama. He knows hows connect to the youth on a more postive note rather then talking about negative things. Obama does not put up a image like he was better then anyone while growing up. Preident Obama lets the youth generation know that he had a hard time and famous people have had a hard time in the past and they all work to be where they are now. I know that i can do anything i put my mind to. Work toward my goals so that maybe i can one day be the first women president of the United States.

Unknown said...

I agree with Michelle's comment. She made very good point about how the youth generation settles for less and does not work toward their full potiental. Every one in life has something their good at, us as the youth doesnt took advantage of the oppunities that are in school or life has to offer us. We either become to lazy or to afraid to take risks. Another point that I agreed with Michelle on is, having disfunction families. Students tend to bring their problems and issues to school and let it show in their work. They either become too lazy or just dont want to try. As another student i have to step up and help a classmate out when I see their are having trouble or is going through hard times. One caring word can make a persons day change for the better. Just by saying '"hi" or "have a good day today", can make a person feel like u care about them and that can change their whole attitude. Being an incouragment to your fellow classmates can make you a better person. You will grow from the experience.

I would have to agree with Katrina (senior) with her statement. It is true that more kids tend to focus more on things going on around them, than more important things that they need to be focused on such as their education, and priorities.

I believe that the challenges of my generartion is that most teens give up too easily. Most teens let family problems in their environment effect their performance in school. The generation today have to want to receive a good education in order to be successful. Challenges that teens face today is asking for help. Some people feel ashamed when they need help, even though they shouldn't.
I can be a part of addressing these challenges by attending to my responsibiliteis. I can begin to committ to my goals and stay persistant. As a student I can ask for help when I don't understand and I could focus more on my school work. Using patience and hardwork can lead me to succeding.

However, I speak for my self when I say that technology is a big distraction towards school when you type a certain way to your friends when you chat through the computer may not be the same way you write when you write a paper for english or any other subject for that matter.Ican adress this challenge for my generation by telling the balance when it comes to technology and school.

i think that the pregnacy rate in our generation is incresing to qucik. teenagers are having kids to many kids at such early ages. they are not abole to care for these kids so why have them. i believe that we should offer more protection and advice these ids to face reality. i think that girls sgould stop being naive and stop believing that it wont happen to them because it can happen to anyone.

i agree with felicia in her saying that in our genration it is harder to find jobs. i think they should offer or create more jobs for the people on also for the teenagers. i think i that if they had a job then the crime rate or the drug rate would decrese.

I believe the challenges of my generation are that students are becoming lazy. If they are doing a problem and they cant solve it they give up rather than trying again. Doing a problem over and over gives you practice so that you know what your doing next time. Also they just don't try at all. Trying to fail is actually better than failing to try because one, your making an attempt to succeed and if you fail theres always next time, but if your failing to try then your just being lazy.

I can be apart of these challenges by helping out someone in need. Say if i see someone struggling with their homework, i'll be happy to help them once i know what im doing. Some students may just look at a problem and say i can't solve it without even trying. Thats just being lazy and thats no good because that later turns into a bad habit. I don't believe theres something as too hard because once we set our mind to something we can achieve all things.

Kwanisha said...

I agree with Najimah's statement. Students who have guardians/parents who set poor examples are doing nothing good for their child. Exactly, some of the songs in this generation talks about things that shouldn't be talked about publically. Like most of the songs are about sex, drugs, violence, etc. I mean when younger gerenations listen to that they're going to wonder and start getting involved in these things. Our generation and higher should be setting a good example for the generations below us.

Unknown said...

Some challenges of my genertation is that kids these days don't want to go to school because they are lazy and don't like going because they think its boring. They also don't have people who are forcing them to go to school and to do their homework. Most kids have the challenge to take care of their siblings because their parents will work late or they only have one parent in the house. So kids might think that they have a responsiblity to take care of their younger siblings. Also kids believe like what President Obama that you can drop out of school and drop in a job. But like President Obama you cant because you need to work hard to get a good job. I like this speech because it show that President Obama really cares about today's youth something I never saw a President do.
I can play a major because I can encourage the younger kids to go to school so they can have a great future. Also help them because like President Obama said even he askes for help. I want our generation to go far because we need to make this world better and make a change like Obama. We as high school students must encourage our young students to dont give up in school.

I agree with Krystle because yes sometimes we have a fear of being unsuccessful and most of us are peer pressure. Every one of us wants to be consider "cool" and some kids consider going to school is "uncool" so they don't go but that's not true because the people that stay in school are going to go far in school and be somebody. Also many kids are afraid of not having their dreams come true , just like Krystle said. But I believe that President Obama help us with his speech and make sure that going to school and working hard will make our dreams come true.

I believe that one of the challenges of our generation is a lack of Responsibility. If we don’t do our assignments or try our best at anything we do in life it’s our fault. It’s our Responsibility for not succeeding. Teachers and parents are there to show us the way to guide us in the right direction but it’s our choice to listen to their advice. The rest is up to us, to try and preserver through personal struggles and the obstacles we face to get a good education and move forward in life. To do our best and we will succeed. The only person responsible for you is yourself.

I can be apart of addressing this challenge by telling people to set goals for themselves, try to complete all homework’s and projects and hand them in on time. To try and do their best and put effort in them so they could get a good grade.

I agree with Sheina when she talked about myspace, twitter, and AOL. Now that we are in high school, we must focus more on work than being on the computer.I agree with Sheina. While getting high grades in classes are good, college will also look at any clubs, community servive, etc. We should also reach out to others to assist and help them develop.

I believe the challenges of my generation are lazyness, popularity and like most of the comments below said, a lack of motivation. Todays teens are in school for at least 8 hours. Sometimes we have jobs our other priorities to do after school and by the time we get home we're too tired, lazy or fed up to do the work. One way I can address this issue is by taking advantage of the extra time i have during the day. Frees, lunches, or on my way to school. Another challenge is that teens want to be popular and rather hang out with their friends after school. During this time in life we want to go out, have fun and experiment. But one way we can address this issue is by using the days that we dont have things to do or school work to hang out and be with our friends. The last issuse is lack of motivation. Sometimes we don't realize how important a test or a homework can be and we brush off one, then two, then five and we end up with low homework scores. No one is really there to push us or tell us what we can achieve or why things are needed to be done. Sometimes teachers tell us the importance of homework and tests but it comes off aggressive and in a way that we tend not to listen because it seems like nagging. We can address this by helping others, motivate our friends and expressing to them the importance of things.

I totally agree with Krystle L. that the fear of failure is one of the challenges of our generation. We often over think things and that make us believe that our dreams won’t come true. And that does lead to your down fall. I also agree that we should be supportive of each other, and never give up on making our dreams come true.

I agree with Kristeen. This is because peer pressure is also an important sturggle us teenagers go through. Sometimes being the smartest person in the class is looked down upon and because of it, students tend to give up on themselves just to be like their friends. The truth is, its a terrible desicion. These teens give up on themselves and their family. Sadly, their career oportunities are far gone and it's hard for them to look for a good job after this.
Some students also believe that it is cool to join gangs and be a troublemaker. They think that getting in trouble will make them stronger and defiant. These are the kids that want to be popular and just want to be known everywhere. Peer pressure does affect some students because friends at school are one of the best things to look forward to at school, but it is up to us to stop the nonsense.

Question 1

I believe that the challenges of my generation is all the peer presure. The presure instead of staying home on a friday night to study or do an very important assiment many kid choice to forget about it and go out to a party etc. peer presure can make a teenager do anything esceppially if they wont to fit in. A teenager who wonts to do well in school will know how to handle all the presure to do bad things and not do them. The way i can help is tell them to leave all those things teenagers love to do such as hang out ,partying etc for anther time and stay focuse and get good grades.

I totally agree with Yanxia's response. the reason why is because when teenagers are having personal problems thats all they think about. Also many teens wont try somthing because there afraid of not doing. Teens also are very afraid of not doing well. teens believe in what there fellow friends think so they wont do somthing because there friends would think. Teens need to stop believeing their friends and challenge yourself and if they really was your friend they wont let you be unseccesful they would wont you to adchieve!

I believe the challenges of my generation today is the lack of behavior towards school. Teenagers now think as though school is not important. Gangs, drugs, lazyness are other challenges to my generation today. I believe that a way i can address these challenges is by helping kids that need help on their work. I could try to be an example for others that education in the end will pay off by going to college and gradute.

I believe that the challenges of my generation is all types of peer pressure. The reason why is because alot of kids believe in what their friends say , instead of doing the right thing. Many teens are very sociable and all they wonna do is go out with friends and not study. this makes kids not do well in school. The way i can help is encourge ma fellow classmates in doing the right thing instead of the bad things. I agree with Yanxia's response because many kids blame there personal life on not doing well in school. Many teens wont do anything challenging because their friends would put things in their head . such thats not cool or fun etc and the kids would believe and not do nothing that would help them. also yanxia stated that kids wont do somthing cause they dont think they would be succesful. personaly i would do the same i believe being encourge is the way. Teens believe alot into what there friends say so they wont do somthing because THEIR friends thinks its uncool. i believe if there truly your friend they would help you out and support you in what ever you would like to do in life.

I agree with both Jailene and Elena, on their thoughts of how a negative home life can affect a student's performance in school. Children learn almost everything from their parents; if at home the family shows no support or interest in education the child will most likely not show any interest either. Also if a child comes from a difficult life or a damaging environment, they can have great difficulty focusing on school because they have so many more problems they have to deal with. For example, if a student's parents are neglectful and the student has younger siblings, that student will now have to take on the role of a parent. This student might begin to do poorly in school because the time they would use to do homework or to study needs to be spent caring for their siblings and, in some cases, their parents.

i believe that the challenges of my generation is that many teens faces trail in there life and on top of the trails there facing they have to deal with the pressure in school. Because junior year is the most important year in high school. Another challenge teens are facing today is trying to get a job because now we are in a recession and our parents don't really have the money to give us when we need it to buy stuff for school. personally i can address those challenges by trying to help a students who doesn't understand a class assignment and encouraging them to focus on their school work.

The Obama speech on education was really amazing. It was the first speech I ever really payed attention to. I believe that the challenges of my generation is that many kids in the world today aren't focused to much on school. Getting an education in school is the major key to success and without it you have nothing. Many kids nowadays give up on education because they feel its too hard and they give up, family issues, or they are to focused on other things. For example, teenagers today are more focused on texting and being on myspace which takes away from there study time. In order for kids to stay focused in school they need the motivation from their family friends and teachers. Another way to stay focused is to spend less time on your phone and more time studying to enhance your learning. Be a step ahead of the game. I can address the challenges by staying focused on my school work and never giving up on any task that is given to me. I can also address the challenges by motivating my friends to do good.

The challenges teenagers face today like peer pressure, lack of motivation, fitting in are issues young people have always faced in society. Everyday we face peer pressure , everyday we must make decisions. Think through your choices they will have an impact in your life. Motivation is needed too. Motivation is like gas to a car we need it in order to keep on going and face your different challenges. How important is fitting in to teenagers? For some fitting in is vital for their social development. Keeping in mind the decisions might scar you for life. In addressing these challenges i Believe motivating people is the start to tackle some of these challenges. Aim high and dont let anyone discourage you because you should be able to reach for your goal.

I believe that challenges of my generation are the lack of effort teens are putting into their school work and teens being young parents. I believe school should be a teens first priority. Today there are many young women teens mothers at home, not being able to be at school learning because they have a child to take care of. I can address those challenges by first, setting an example myself and continue the effort I've been putting into my school work, especially now my junior year of high school. I can also address these challenges by encouraging young women teens to protect themselves and try to avoid having kids at a young age, school should be the only thing they should be thinking about. In order to raise a family, i believe that you should have an college education and a good job in order to support you and your family. Theses are a few things i can do to help my generations challenges.

First, I would like to say this was an excellent speech! One of the things that caught my attention is when President Barack Obama says that it is never an excuse to not doing your homework, behaving badly; there is no excuse for not trying. This caught my attention because I know from experience that no matter what challenge you came across when it comes down to it that does not matter but your education does, you education always comes first.

Also as President Obama says “you can’t let you your failures define you, you have to let you failures teach you…you have to let them show you what to do different the next time” it made me realize that its true a lot of people do give up after they have failed. However, it takes hard work to succeed and failure does come along through the process but that does not mean you just give up it just means you try harder the next time. Many people my age hate to ask for help because they act as though it would make them seem dumb or slow but how can you learn if you do not ask for help. Everyone needs help in order to succeed in getting an education and if you don’t succeed like Obama said not only are you letting down yourself your letting down your country!

I feel that, one big problem of our generation is that we are not motavated enough,or told "we can do it",as well as dealing with tough stressful situations that make us want to give up.Another problem is,family issues and other things that are going on at home that cause a student to lose focus on school work.

2.I think that i can adress these challenges by,staying motavated and knowing that i can acheive what i want to gain in life. If i were to ever have a problem at home i would go and talk to someone, instead of keeping it inside, and cause me to become distracted with school.

I agree with Katrina, most challenges with my generation do have to do with peer pressure. Most kids waste most of the time trying to stay “cool” that they do not focus on their education. She is right in order for this to stop people has to start standing up for themselves and be a leader. They have to start to say that they will put their education first and then comes friends.

1. The things that I feel are challenging in my generation is the oppurtuniy to have an education and persue your goals. Alot of students that can make a difference in their lives by staying in school, drop out and i dont think they realized how great life can be for them and what changes they can make for our country if they put their mind in school. I can see that some students dont take their school work seriosly and i feel that their only hurting themselves because your education is forever and no one can take that away from you. I think some students feel that staying in school is pointless and a waste of their time which is untrue because without an education how will you make it in life, how will you get a job if your dreams crushed because you thought that it was more important than school. Dont think that you will be served on a silver platter because you have to earn it.
2. I can help addressed these challenges by motivating others to stay in school and dont let life past you by. I feel that these students needs some inspiration and motivation to keep on going and following their passion to be what ever they want to be and not make thier life a failure. By helping each other and sticking together whether your helping each other with your homework or a project, your working together to make a difference in our country. I think all students should lisen to the Obama speech because they will learn how lucky they are to be in school becuase their are some kids out there who would love to go to school but they dont have the oppurtunity to go because their families cant offerd it. Motivation and education is the key to a better successful life.

I personally feel that one of the greater challenges of my generation is in the form of a problem: GREED! Many of my peers answer "RICH" when asked what do they want to be when they're older. As President Obama mentioned in his speech this week, the chances of that happening are slim. Youngsters now a day don't realize that when you get out of college many a times your first job will be sharpening pencils (exaggerating, of course). When all is said and done, an education is priceless.

Sadly, I don't know how to address this issue. When a problem, such as greed, appears in a text as old as the bible it clearly shows no one else has been able to cure it. For many humans greed ignites them. That's their drive however there is a healthy greed out there. It's called motivation. Instead of my peers saying "I want to be rich" they should be saying "I want to be successful". That's what i respond with.

1.I believe that the challenges of my generation are that some teens aren't motivated or determined enough to go through with their education. The streets, drugs, and violence captures their attention a lot more then education. A lot of students don't know how to make their own decisions and they are easily influenced, especially to do bad. I also believe that parents should be more involved in their child(ren)'s life because that way teens won't do whatever they want but they'll do what's right. A lot of teens don't understand that how they act and what they do today is going to determine their career and life in the future. I think teens lack sources of inspiration and we lack more speeches and advices kind of like the one President Barack Obama gave us. We need to know that at least someone has faith that we can get somewhere in life and it won't be easy. We also need to know that they've been in our spot and they're passing down some words of wisdom.
2. I can be a part of addressing those challenges by motivating some of the other teens to continue with education and telling their parents to get more involved with their lives. I can also tell them to ask past graduates of all different types of careers so they can give them a word of advice and motivation to keep their education going for a much better and successful future.

Unknown said...

I agree with Yasmine because that is true no matter what your challenge may be, you should never stop trying. I like the part when she said that "you cant let your failures define who you are, you should let your failures teach you." Which is true becuase i use to fail math all time ever sice 3rd
grade and i use to try all the time to understand it so ever since freshman year ive done better in math then i did before and this will become helpful for me when I some day become a doctor.

After reading through a few responses of my peers I did agree with one young lady. Another challenge our generation face today is the security of finding a job after college. With the economy with not much improvement the work force hasn't been able to get back on its feet. In about four years I will be pushed into finding a job and one of my biggest fears is someone not hiring me. The way I see it is, it doesn't matter your level of experience or intelligence. If there is no position available or money to employ you then you are left without a job.

Unknown said...

I agree with Andreas comment. I feel that young people around our age have so much other priority's after school that when we actually go home to do homework, we are very tired and too lazy to actually get the job done. Homework is a big part of our grade and when we have no time to do this at home and no one to push us to do it, we dont work to our potential.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Estefani where she stated that students lack effort into their school work. Like i stated before, students are more interested and involved in the streets, drugs and other influences that will take you far away from education and being successful in life. I also agree when she states her facts about teen moms. Teens want to have fun, sure, but they need to know how to do it in a safe way because just one moment can get you in jail, pregnant, or possibly even dead.

Unknown said...

As i was reading my fellow classmates comments, i noticed that i agreed with what they were saying. For example, I do agree with Schae, students are usually okay with an 65 which is a passing grade. I think every student should work to their potential. I also agree with Jailene about parents having arguments with their child. Like president Obama said in his speech, all students need the support from their family and teachers. I'm glad to see that my fellow classmates and I agree and certain things and like that, we can make our generation better.

One way i can help others is first helping myself to a good education so i can help others one day.

1) Our generation faces different challenges such as: not being motivated in school, not going to school, drugs, alcohol, and gangs. Our generation is all about fashion the latest trends, rather than school.Instead of doing all we can do to suceed there are teens that dont even go to school. If they do classes are being cut, and no one is paying attention to the lesson plan. Its hard enough being a teen because of the new experiences we face. Us as teenagers make it harder. Finding a good job in todays society is very hard to do. That's why its important to get the proper education you need so you can have a successful career. Obama said "get serious" and I think we should all follow his words. With the hard work and motivation we can all live a successful life.

2) Addressing these challenges aren't easy to do. School is something that takes focus and motivation, you have to be willing to change. Most teens don't really care, because they feel there are more important things. I have friends that miss first period because they dont want to get up early. All you can do is try to help and reach out. But if no one takes your hand and is willing to work with you their is nothing you can do. We all have freedom to do whatever we want, but have to pay the consquences. Besides giving a helping hand I can start with myself. Making sure that I pay attention, and do what i have to do to have a succcessful life.

Unknown said...

I agree with destiny when she said that kids in our generation our not taking things seriously. But seem to want so much in life.Things are not just going to be handed to you. You have to work for what you want in life in order to succeed. Its like pre3sident Obama said, its not until you hand in that english paper that you decide you want to be a writer. Things are not always going to be easy but then again nothing that is worth it at the end is easy. Which is why we should try.

Unknown said...

I agree with schae. Teens that do have an opportunity to go to school dont. They dont have the motivation. Most students are just passing or barely pass and they are comfortable with that. Some even aim as low as a 65. If teens weren't so lazy they could probably succeed in anything they put their mind to.

Our generation face many problems and obstacles. Some of our challenges that we face deals with our families, schools, social lives’ and our influences. One of the greatest challenge that we face deals with our family life. Our family life heavily effect our generation because most of the time our families are the one that influences and encourage us to be a certain way. So if a family member isn’t showing any concern about your education. Why should you? If your parents or other family member is living a certain way you may think for some time that. That is the only way to live life.

We can be a part of addressing these challenges by doing the right and best thing to do. We can be the one who are a good influence on the newer generation that comes after us. So that the newer generation can have a good role model that influences them to strive and achieve greatness. So we can be the one who influences our relative especially the younger ones who likes to imitate the good we have done and not the bad. To show them that even though your from this family. You can be successful in life.

What do you believe are the challenges of your generation?
How can you be a part of addressing these challenges?

In my mind the challenges of our generation is that kids such as i loose our consintration at times and never actually understanding what the teacher said , and without leting the teacher know because we often get scared what the other students might say. Another challenge is the issues we have with our friends and having a bad influence on us, us kids should know whats right or wrong. Sometimes its hard to know because we get caught up with what our friends or the people around us say that we forget that we have an opinion or should i say disagreement, but we don't say it cause we want to look cool in front of others surrounding us. I Believe that the way to adress these problems are to think about who we are actually benefiting when we do ask questions to understand more, and not to care what other people think. Never think you should do something because another person is doing it, you should be your own self. Someone who should be thinking about the future instead of now , because now is not going to get you anywhere its what you set your goals for the future is what counts. And i totally agree with what Schae said "They do not realize that with effort and hard work they can be the next person to cure an incurable disease or the next President of the
United States".

I would have to agree with Sheina's comment. Like she said, our youth today lacks encouragement. If teens could stay more focused they would do very well in school. A lot of kids these days stay up almost all night on websites and texting that they don't get the proper rest their body needs to function properly. If adolescences took matters more serious and made an effort to pay attention and stay focused, our country would have a very bright future.

Unknown said...

I agree with Sheina. She says that we should be more motivated to join school activities. While participating in any activity such as speech or even cheerleading, you gain confidence in yourself raising your self-esteem. With that high self-esteem, one feels that they can accomplish so much more in their lives. Also, these activities can show you how to be patient and responsible which can apply to school work. Sheina also mentioned that your education can't wait, which I agree with. You only get one real shot at high school and if you throw away that opprotunity, the rest of your future may be at stake.

I feel as if we dont have enough respect for our peers and we also seem to be very thunderous and daring . It seems to me that we dont fear alot as much when my moms generation use to be frightned and not so overly outspoken. I can address those challenges by getting a college degree and letting te young children and also the teens that you could do it and nothing should get in the way between you and your success.

Unknown said...

I believe that the challenges of my generation are the level of motivation that teens today have on school. One of the challenges can be when graduating high school students want to apply to college. These students may have the desire to go to college but because of high tuition and not enough financial aid they become afraid of ending up in debt. Fear gets in the way and they dont go to college.
One way i would address this challenge would be by showing teen girls that nothing is impossible. I, myself would be an example. As much as i have failed and obstacles have come my way i have never given up. In President Obama's speech, he mentions in order to have a well payed job and live comfortably you have to have both, a High School and College diploma. President Obama's speech was very enlightening and motivating.

I beleive that the challenges of our generation is that we dont seem to listen very well. Also with updated technology growing progressivly by each day that passes by the children of our generation seem to loose focus of our school work. by these htings being in view of the young minded kids they grow up thinking its okay to do what the older ones do. I feel that were very daringa dn thunderous we have less and less respect for adults each day. Also theres no real example for the young ones who come up. i feel theyre being taught the complete wrong of life. How do I feel i could address the challenges is by showing them my large degree and teling or witnessing to the young ones and the teens that no one should be able to interfare with your success.

1.I believe the challenge we face in our generation is we get easily distracted by each day thecnology. we focus to much been on myspace, facebook, Twitter,etc... That we forget about what really important to us. Our education should always come first. Everyday teenagers spend our on the computer or cell phones Without doing homework, projects, essay or just studyng for a class.

2. I can be part of addressing this challenge by helping student of lower class that has problem focusing in school, tutoring. Talking to them about the problems we have in this generation and how we can make a different by focusing in school. I think we all have to deal with diferrence problem everyday but we have to keep beating them and look foward.

I agree with josephine because i think each year get harder with regents and SAT.  teenagers try to cut classes or they are to lazy to do homework. But we should not let this intimate us. It should make us more responsible for our accion and realize the it's time to grow up.

1. What do you believe are the challenges of your generation?

I believe that there are many challenges of my generation. One of these challenges is that in this generation there are many distractions to many students today. These distractions can either be from the technology we have now, or from other more personal issues that we face at home. Another challenge would be fear. Fear of failure, fear of reject. However, whatever the challenge, you should not let that stop you from getting your education and becoming what you want to be in life. No one is accountable for your actions except you. Despite any problems you have, giving up and dropping out of school is not an option. You cannot just drop out of school and expect to be hired right away with a successful job. Success doesn’t come easy. You have to work hard for it in order to achieve it. Some of the most successful people are the ones who had the most failures. However, you should never let your failures define you, but rather just let them teach you how to be better.

2. How can you be a part of addressing these challenges?

I can be a part of addressing these challenges by lending a helping hand, by giving my peers good advice and encouragement, and by leading by example. Every single one of us has something that we’re good at, but it’s our responsibility to discover what that is. An education is what helps us to discover that. Without it, none of us would be where we are today. Therefore, no matter what happens in your life, never give up on yourself or your hopes and dreams. Where you are right now doesn’t determine where you’ll end up in your future. You create your own destiny, and you can make it through it if you just try. As Obama said, “Don’t ever give up on yourself, because when you give up on yourself, then you give up on your country. The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough, it’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, and who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.”

I completely agree with Schae. In this generation, many students aren't as motivated as the past generations were. They feel that as long as they pass with at least a 65%, then they are satisfied. However, I think that students should never be satisfied with just a passing grade, and should never settle for less. They should always aim higher and be motivated to do better than a 65% and at least try to raise their grades as much as they can. Most importantly, they should always try to do their best. And since I'm a Senior now, if I can overcome taking many Regents, the PSAT and SAT exams, and Finals, then I know that everyone else here can too if they at least try. The only time you fail is when you don't try. Therefore, if you all follow this advice, as well as everyone else's here, then I know that you will succeed.

I think the challenges we face today is getting a job. A lot of people are being laid off because of the depression that we currently are facing. Many teens cannot do a summer youth because now these jobs are going to adults.

I can help by organizing more opportunities for my peers. I think if we work together on this problem, we can accomplish big things. Great minds think alike so if we come togther, we change change a lot of things.

I agree with Krystal however because I think a lot of teens are falling into peer pressure and thats contributing to a lot of drop outs. Also they are not focusing well on family issues and other important stuff.

President Obama's speech really influenced me to work harder to my upstanding ability. This speech that he gave will actually be legendary to my generation because we were the only adolescents addressed directly from our president Mr.Barack Obama himself. This speech i feel will help the generation and future generations to come to change the world one day at a time. President Obama said in the run for election that it was time to change and by him presenting to the adolescents that he cares change for the better will occur.

I agree with Sahae she really explained alot. about the same ay i felt. she is right about teenagers and how they have opportunities to get an education but dont. Some personaly i think are afraid, but thats beause the have people who bring them down. suchas, the world today. Some people feel that only asians and cocasians are wealthy of actually staying in school and having a good education because of how the world looks at sertant race. blacks and hispanic people are looked down on because of how some people of our race act towards school and their education. But not all are like that. "WE CAN" like Obama said. So "WE" as a community should stand up, teenagers stand up and take responsibliity in your actions. take charge of your life, dont let no one take control of it for you. the world is hard yes but school prepares you for the real world.Obama said "WE CAN". so we shall. GO to SCHOOL.

I agree with what Chari said because our generation does need help with being motivated. The average teenage focuses most of their time on fashion and what they see on tv. In Chari's blog she touched on the fact that teens don't pay attention to the lesson plan that the teachers provide for them. She also mentioned that it's hard for people to find a good job in our society now so in order to get a good job you have to be successful and focus in school. If all the teens out there put their mind to it I believe just as Chari said that we can all live a successful life.

What do you believe are the challenges of your generation?

I believe that the challenge of our generation is the high school drop out rate. The drop out rate at the momentis 50 percent. Some students get under the impression that they won't make if theirs no spark in certain subjects. Some kids even drop out if they have no male or female influence at home. As President Obama said, "Its important to have an education because without one you can't do certain things.

krystalpadmore said...

I agree with Krystle L. one of the challenges of our generation is peer pressure. Peer pressure happens alot today in society. Many students are being peer pressured the most in school by thier friends. Students are being peer pressured to smoke, drink, and cut class. I believe no one should be peer pressured.

How can you be part of addressing these challenges?

I can address these challenges by doing the same for people that they did for me. I would push that person to keep trying even if they try for 1 one time. Giving up only proves your weaknesses but trying proves your strength.

I have to say I agree with Rachel a lot of kids out here need a role model and its not enough of that going around. Some people have no guidance or have been influenced just put down.

I Agree with Dionne as we go by each day there are alot of new technology facing us and us teens get really attracted for example in St joseph highschool more than half the girls have a sidekick either the newest one or the ancient one and i think thats a big affect for our generation because everyday i see someone hiding a sidekick with there book bag instead of paying attention. Another affect would be lack of support I've heard alot of different stories on how parents can really influence the way we look at school because some parents these days may have money but not because they got an education because they got really lucky. I think i can influence the way people look at school, personally the past years i haven't been doing as well as i could be doing in school but this year I'm making some changes and i think alot of people are following because they know what they are starting to want, A Future.

I really enjoyed Obama"s speech on education. He proved many points to young children about how the education is your key to success and without and education you cant make it far in life. Maybe teenagers who hear it from someone like Obama can influence them to change their minds because of who he is and what he is and hearing it from him can change their view on education. What i enjoyed most about his speech was that he used his own experience and showed how it made him a better person and those that are going through the same thing can become a better person.

i agreed with brittany when she said that most teenagers today are just using excuses and procrasinating when it comes to their education. Its not that they dont know the work their just being lazy and dont want to put forth the effort to succeed because nothing in life is easy and most of the time they just give up. I used to be the same way but i relaized that the way i was going wasnt the right way and i wasnt going to make it far in the direction i was heading. what made me notice that i had to wake up was looking at my reactions and the people around me who were making something out of theirselves and it made me realize that if i want to go somewhere in life i have to work for it because it not going to come to me.

I agree with felicia when she said that kids today don't have the motivation they need. Kids today really don't they have to focus on other things like family and also are worried about gangs and trying to stay alive. We need to make more community centers for kids to do their homework and a place for them to go when they need to just get away.

I agree with Najimah when she said that there are many negative influences. Often we hear of children that want to be 'just like' their favorite rapper; therefore mocking everything that they do in terms of style, appearance, etc. However, once the celebrity ends up in problems regarding our legal system in acts such as possession, or even disorderly conduct, youngsters believe that since their idol can do it, so can they.Negative influence is something that we must put an end to in today's society so that our children can benefit in the future.

i agree with what felicia said. its true that challenges of our generation isnt enough motivation to focus on schoool without letting personal issues at home interfere with our education. some students be overwelmed with things that go on in their lives that they cant focus. not everyone is strong enough to keep their heads up and stay strong. the most they can do is try.

Freyani .P. said...

i agree with jailene. obama names three students who have been through more tough times than we have. and if they can do it , then so can we. we must try to put all our troubles aside because at the end of the day our education is whats needed to succeed in life, and like obama said "if we give up on ourselves, then we give upon our country".

i really like Krystle's comments because i do think my generation is scared of failing because i have that fear and not being successful in this world to me means a hard life in the future.

Unknown said...

i agree with the response that felicia says about the challenges of our generation now. theres not enough jobs for teens. i think that we have to be the persons that have to change this.We are suppose to be making the better future so others can look at that so they will follow the good ideas.

I believe that the challeneges of my generation comes mainly from the media spreading lies that many teenagers believe and putting false images into their heads. I also feel that the lack of parents that are really focus on their childrens education. Many parents are too busy working alot struggling trying to maintain a stable household which makes it really hard. The want of material things is also a challenge kids would rather have the latest things thats only in style for a certain season than have a education that lasts a lifetime. Another challenge is that teenages are not serious about their own education! I can personally help my generation by helpingmyself first and recieving a good education then i can be able to help my peers .

tiffanyc said...

i totally agree with Scahe on everything that she said. Most children are not motivated alot are satisfied with just passing which is not good. They should always do there best but strive to better than just passing. Also high school teenagers do have alot of pressure alone trying past regents score well on the SATs and preparing for college. Scahe was completly right.

Question #3

I feel the challenges of my generation include lack of drive and focus in school. There are all kinds of distractions in the worls that keep us from focusing in school. Then there's also peer pressure and financial issues that we have to deal with. One of the most common challenges that people of all generations face is feeling that they won't make it in the world, or their dreams wont come true. Some other challenges might be lack of encouragement from family members and or friends. Teens my age are mostly stressed out due to so much school work, tests, SATs and even regent to a point where they want to give up. Teens get distracted by facebook, AIM, and texting when they should be reading a book or studying. Basically some teens just dont apply themselves or even have an interest in school.

Shyan said...

2). I can be part of addressing these challenges by making changes my own life. I will apply myself and dedicate more time to school work. I will also encourage my peers that education is the only way out.

I highly agree with Krystle L. I agree with her because fear of failure is one of the main issues why teens hold themselves back. If you have it in your head that that your not going to make it then how are you. It makes perfect sense.

Unknown said...

I believe that the challenges of my generation is that too many teenagers have the lack of self-confidence in themselves. An in today's society many teenagers need that confidence to succeed in whatever they may want to accomplish.

I can also address this issue by giving them advice an always letting them know that they can do whatever they put they mind to . if you believe it you can achieve it .

Unknown said...

I agree with Krystal Lewis comment because many teenagers are being pressure into doing things that they don't want to do. An today many teens do fear failure but like I stated in my comment its probably do to the lack of self-confidence,But they will built up that an get over it cause they are smart like that .!

I think the challenges of my generation is that we are too laxed. Everything is handed to us. There are many technologies that disable us from thinking. For example, instead of going to libraries and searching for information, we choose the internet. This tells us that we don't have to do much, or nothing is much of a challenge for us. This of course teaches us to be lazy and content because we have in our minds that we don't have to do much. 2) I think I cab address these challenges by bringing it to the public eye. Most people don't realize exactly what's happening until they've actually heard somewhere. It only takes one person to bring forth a situation like this. I could also encourage othes to depend more on themselves as opposed to these technologies. It's such a bad thing when a healthy brain goes to waste.

Nyeesha Turpin said...

I agree with Schae. There is a lack of motivation. We're not pushed or encouraged to do well in school. Many of us take the easy road instead of the challenging one. Although, many would love the easy road, shortcuts in life don't get you very far because you've either missed out or you were just lazy.

Lisa Malanik said...

1. What do you believe are the challenges of your generation?
I believe that my generation has many different challenges facing them. One of these challenges is preventing teenage pregnancy. So many young people have become permissive and before they know it they are parents and the reality hits hard. The challenge of becoming a teenage parent instills the feeling of being trapped and eventually interferes with education and other activities a teenage person enjoys, leaving them alone. Technology also is a challenge to us. We have so much available to us that we use them for all reasons and in turn interferes with many activities of the day, including school. Most of us use cell phones to communicate and it disrupts other things that are happening. Then there is the challenge to succeed and we have to meet many different levels to be successful. We have to put the importance of education so our future will be better. Giving up or dropping out is not an option. Despite problems of fear of failure, success is within ones grasp, if one tries hard to meet the challenges placed before them and realizes that failures make them stronger and it does not define who you are, but teaches you how to do better and succeed.

2. How can you be a part of addressing these challenges?
The way that I can be a part of addressing these challenges are by educating myself to prevent pregnancy, to abstain from sexual activities and to inform others how important prevention of pregnancy is. To let them and myself become aware of what becoming pregnant will do to ones life, and how it will affect their future and the lives around them. Technology is very important in today’s world, but like everything else there is a time a place for its use. Educate the world on its importance and when and where it should be used. Remember that failures are a part of life and when one fails it gives them strength and knowledge to learn from their mistakes. Everyone at some time or another have failed at one thing or another and it only made them know they can succeed in doing over until they get it right. You must always know that failure is a teaching tool and you will learn if you try until you succeed. Addressing failures is part of knowing it does not define who you are, but it does teach and make one stronger and better at meeting challenges.

I agree with felicia because kids these days in school dont focus on their work they pay more attenton to television, computers and phones that distracted from their school work.

i totally agree with the comment made by fotini on students not taking school seriously. i also find President Obama to be my role model because he's sort of an "Accountability Partner" for all students around the world. with his testimony of how we arent the only ones facing challenges in school. he is a living testimony on how no matter difficulties we face in we we can still become very successful.

I agree with Felicia , that th echallenges that our generation faces is because there isn't enough motivation. lIke Felicia said the kids these days are mmore focused on the new technologgy than on their school work. The other challenge that we teengaers face that Felicia stated is that it is hard to find jobs. The economy is down, so therefore their isn't alot of companies hiring.

1.the challenges that my generation faces towards completeing their education are lack of motivation and laziness. Lack of motivation stops many teenagers from completing their education because the older generation gives up on us kids to fast. As soon as couple of teenagers fail in some way the older generation is quick to put us down and won't even give us another chance to prove ourselves. Also laziness is a big factor because teenagers nowadays are okay with just "getting by". They believe that as long as their passing, even with a low grade, is good enough and it will not effect them.
2.I canbe apart of addressing these challeneges by continuing my education. Not letting lack of motivation stop me from not completeing it. I can also adress these issues by motivating my friends to continue in their education. As well as motivating my younger cousins and make sure that they try to complete their education

Unknown said...

I agree with what Justine said. It's true that a lot of kids in my generation have problems with asking for extra help when they need it. A lot of kids are self concious and that holds them back from doing the best that they can and achieving grades they really deserve.

I believe that my generation has many things to ove come. We have to overcome the massive debt that we have. In addision to that we must overcome the resesion and get back on our feet. Education has to get better, drop out rates should go down and graduation rates up. Not only that but we must overcome the threat of global warming. My generation must protect the plant.

Unknown said...

I can help with solving these challenges by staying in school and doing things to help the enviornment. Staying in school is a win any way you see it because this means there will be another person that will be able to work and help with the economic situation.

Unknown said...

I agree with what Stephanie wrote. Our generat ion does face many challenges. Some of them being education, national debt, and lack of jobs. Our generation will have to face all of this when we take over. Changes have to be made and I agree that making small changes is the way to start. If every person makes a small change it will make a big difference.

Unknown said...

I think that the challeneges my generation face today is a lack of focus on education. Many teens see that becoming a rapper or actress of some sort is a way of being successful. But to get to any goals in life i believe that education is the key. Many teens forget that school is the most important thing. Also,i think having Barrack Obama as president of the United States shows that we can become anything we want in life but, to get success education is the most important.
