My favorite "life event" was when I went to Europe in the summer of 2007. My mom, sister, brother and I first arrived in London, England and travelled to Paris, France, and then to Rome, Italy from there. It was a great experience and I had the time of my life exploring these foreign cities with my family. In each new city we went out for dinner every night in a new restaurant, sampling the national cuisine. We went on tours in the morning, and ventured out to discover new places for ourselves at night. It was really fun riding the train in each country because we felt like locals, and it was the best way to commute. And I cannot wait to go back to Europe next summer; I will be visiting Spain!

Thats cool Fotini. I think going back to where you came from is the best because you get to see how your parents grew up and how it was like when they were young. You also get to learn more about your culture. : ]

One of my favorite events in history during my life time is the current nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. She was nominated by President Obama as the first hispanic judge in the Supreme Court. This is one of my favorit events due to the fact that since I am Hispanic it is an accomplishment that makes me proud. I am glad to say I witnessed this moment in history.

One of my Favorite event in my life time would be when Bill Clinton becomes the 42nd President. He won the 1992 presidential election against Republican George H.W. Bush and Populist Ross Perot. He took office on Jan. 20,1993. This is my favorite event because he passed acts like Family and Medical Leave Act, which allowed an employee to take unpaid leave due to a seroius health condition.

One of my favorite events in my life that stood out to me the most is "New Jersey apologizing for Slavery". This event caught my attention quickly because I felt that New Jersey as a state feels sorrowful for the pain, destruction, and turmoil they contributed to during slavery to many African Americans and other people of other races.

One of my favorite historical events that happened so far in my life was Barack Obama's presidential inauguration. It was my favorite event in history because it began a new era of positive change in America. For the first time in the United States, we can now say that an African American has become president. To me, this is the change we need to see in America.

One of my most memorable events in history was the September 11 terrorist attack to NYC. This event was very memorable to me because it happened in the state i was living in. This event also had an affect on other in American but most of all to New Yorkers. Since i was one of those New Yorkers who saw the twin towers callapse it affected me socially and economically, everyone that day was very dredful and sad because ofthe attack. This attack feared many from flying on planes, and also the American Security.

Throughout my life history there have been numerous events that have occured worldwide. One of the events that have impacted me the most was on September 11,2001 attacks. This was a series of coodinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda. Terrorits hijacked four commercial passenger Jet airliners and intentially crashed into The World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon and the fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. This event impacted many lives.Thousands of people died and lost their jobs. This was the most tragic event that i had to experience and it changed my life forever.

My favirote event in history was the Tsunmai in Southeast Asia because I never knew that the tsunmai occured because of a earthquake and I found it very intresting that the tsunmai happened like that. This tsunami is one of the deadliest natural disaster and it killed about 240,000 people in Southeast Asia. This was a good thing becasue it killed people and destroyed peoples home but it really caught my attention.

My favorite life event is when I first went to Haiti last year. I went with my entire family and viewed a different way of life and living circumstances. It opened my eyes to how lucky I am for all of the riches that I have in my life and I am very grateful for that.

Los Angeles Riots of 1992
My "favorite event" is the L.A. riots of 1992 that occured after the aquital of 4 officers for the videotaped beating of Rodney King. Although I do not agree whatsoever with the riots' means, it did, in the end, bring 2 police officers to justice. It is also cool because the riot is frequently referenced in pop culture, including in one of my favorite shows, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It parallels a similar incident that occured in the 1960's-- the brutal killing of Arthur McDuffy. In both instances, the men who were beat were African American motorists, and they were both assaulted by police officers.

At first I wasn't so excited about doing a history project but afterwards I got really into it. I found out so many more exciting things happened other then September 11 and Obama winning the 2008 election and me getting a bad haircut as a kid. The most interesting event I found was the successful cloning of the sheep. This was a breakthrough in the science field and showed that scientific advances can still be produced in our modern society,

I liked Brittney Alvarez's blog because she mentioned how her mother worked in the South Tower and that she made her mother late from work on September 11, 2001. i was happy that she shared it and that her mother is here today with her. Many people died that day and Brittney's mom was safe.

My most memorable event that took place during my time was Hurricane Katrina which struck the South Coast of the country and took out most states such as Louisiana. It left millions of people dead, lost, and homeless. If something like this were to happen again I wish we would just be more prepared.

Britt A. said...

I wouldn't say this would be my favorite event, more like the most memorable. The 9/11 attacks have left a huge impact on our nation and in my memories. I was in fourth grade at the time and our school was in a panic when the two planes flew into the twin towers. We, the students, could feel the urgency, but the teachers would not give any information except that there were "rumors" of the attacks, and immediately i felt nervous. My mother worked for Morgan Stanley on the 63rd floor of the south tower, World Trade Center. Thank God, I made my mother late for work that day and she did not get into the building.

I looked at Rachel Ruiz's project and the one that that stood out to me the most was her slide about the Tsunami of 2004. It affected millions of people and even some Americans. I felt that this was a tragic lost.

I think the event that I have remembered the most was Sept. 11 because I remember being in school and all of a sudden everyone was scared and parents were picking up their kids. Outside, everyone looked frightened and were rushing to get home. I remember my parents and my cousin went to Sunset park because it had a view of the city. They were able to see how the second tower was hit, and all you saw was gray smoke across the sky for days.

Britt A. said...

I liked Antova Herbert's comment on Hurricane Katrina because that is also a very memorable event. Hurricane Katrina was so disastrous and left such a huge impact on peoples lives. I remember being in Florida at the time and hearing about how the hurricane just about destroyed New Orleans and how many people who did not get out of the city in time had to take refuge in the large superdome.

My favorite event during the 1992- 2009 timeline was the Tsunami in South east asia. As devastating as it was in asia the power of the earthquake proved itself extravagant and powerful. The power of nature realy surprised me even though this natural disaster took many lives.

My Favorite "life" event would have to be the Inaugaration of our first African American President, Barack Obama. This not only gave people faith and encouragement to reach their goals and truly believe that they are capable of ANYTHING but it left a permanent positive mark on society.

My favorite Event in History
My favorite event during my life time was the Los Angeles Riots because it was an event that caused people to act together as one and fight for injustice. Although there was violence while fighting for the injustice there were good things that came out of these horrific riots. Many organizations were formed for example the Association of Korean American Victims. Also the links between different ethnic groups increased which provided more unity as a nation. Because of the beating of one man a great amount of people came together and tried to make a difference which is something that has been going on from the beginning of our nations history.

Unknown said...

In response to Stacey's comment...

September 11 was a dredful day. It left America scarred and full of grief and sorrow. Americans, especially New yorkers were not only hurt but also became paranoid and fear became a big part in their lives.

I think Ashley T's favorite event is really interesting. I think it shows alot when a state apologizes for their use of slavery. It's not everyday when you see a state show that much compassion toward something as critical as that.

I like the blog that Lisa wrote because the inaguration of President Obama was a historic event that brought tears to many people of every race. My favorite event from my project is the Convention on the Future of Europe. The event occurred in 2003 in order for the European Union to revise the way it works. Also, I liked this particular event because it shows that even though it happened almost 2 centuries after we established our U.S. Constitution, it sort of shows that we are like a role model to other countries around the world.
